"Decent" gets noone's heart throbbing, does it? Oh well.

I am really struggling to see why you have adopted this tone, btw. But I won't lower myself to it.

I think you are wrong about Beefy. I don't think he talks down to anyone, that is just how you see it. I just think he uses few words.

Me, however, yes I can talk down sometimes and that is because it is the same **** I read every year and then we sign people and then fans breathe again. It makes me feel as if people would be happy when we fail and they can say "I told you so" (Tom has already book marked a page ready to do that) when all it needs is just a little time.

I'm not denying there will be signings and haven't once said anything of the sorts, it's the calibre of signing that is a slight concern.

It's not the disagreement, it's the tone of the posts, ie- use of the term 'bedwetter' that demeans peoples concerns. I enjoy the discussion and I'm sat firmly on the fence at the moment, I appreciate the amazing work of the last 2 summers but it's foolish to think we can do that every year and improve. There are 6-8 clubs that are doing their utmost to overtake us, we can't afford to be complacent.

Why do you say that? No one moaned about not having signed people. We are worried about the rhetoric coming from the club. Did you read any of the well explained posts above, or just agree with a few of the usuals without reading the debate?

I have adopted that tone spacedsaint because of what I wrote above. Same **** every single year. Then all works out well. The new manager has been here one week!

Listen, those sharing your views may well be 100% correct, but I am just prepared to wait the allocated time (to Sept 1st) to see what we do. If nothing else, perhaps you could learn from history and see how we've done it before.

I'll also add about "decent"... , do you want the club to tell the world we are going to spend millions and millions and get them clicking the +% button on a calculator.

Fair point. It's just a turn of phrase (like meltdown) that's become a common theme on here though. I really don't see Chilcs (who used it) as anything like an aggressive, shut down kind of guy though.

    Why do we need to?

This has been said for 4 seasons in a row. We broke that record twice and it turned out a waste of money. Each of those seasons we improved!

Other than the fact I've just engaged with those views? (Presuming I'm part of the "they").

That really is a pot/kettle/black scenario!

The debate has been good natured and well-reasoned. Then people who did not like the conversation started name-calling. Yet we are out of order somehow for considering other views? Are you really being serious?

Also, I don't think we are doing it the same way this year. So, that, surely, is a debate tou would like to partake in, not. Just insult?

Whiteley. There is still a tournament going on. A lot of teams are in the same position on the training front.

My opinion, for what it's worth:

    Trust the club. They have delivered for year after year. Despite the greed, despite the lack of loyalty, we continue to grow. We keep giving the big clubs bloody noses. We keep producing amazing talents. We always improve players when they arrive. We always pick out at least one gem. We re-invest money from players sold into a couple of new players. I understand people get nervous and upset when our big names leave, but just remember;
    We march on.

We are used to regular progress, but we must also be ready for the odd so-so season. With the best effort in the world that can happen...look at Chelsea last season as just one example. I'm not looking forward to the summer when that happens.

I wonder how the fans of Valencia, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and to some extent Benfica and Porto feel about selling key players most Summers, reinvesting well, and doing better the next season and punching above their weight? People say "We can't keep doing this forever" just need to look at Dortmund, Sevilla and Madrid for starters. It is a business model, and it's been working for many years for many different clubs. Have some faith of the people in the boardroom!

    • Show me my insult in that post or the ones before.
    • I haven't said your out of order, I just keep pointing out that your view is premature
    • So you're not doing what the same way this year? The moaning? Every pre-season people moan about what the club don't do before they have given them time to do anything.

Indeed but you said September 2nd before you moan. I think our board plan a lot better than that. I'm hoping for some movement (not out) before the season starts and not having signings at the last minute.

This nervousness or not over lack of transfer activity IMO has nothing to do with confidence in the board/club. It's understanding how the window works.

The bigger deals usually take longer because it's a lot of money for both sides and everyone will want to assess their options. It's compounded this year by many players being off playing in Euro.

We signed Forster in early August. VVD end of August/September. We signed Mane after the season started.

We have one player in now in Redmond, that seems about right.

One move done early, 1-2 more in July/August, and then maybe 1-2 guys where you are bumping up right against the close of the window. That seems like a pretty typical offseason to me.

He definitely does at times, not often though. Like today when he said peoples concerns are boring? I remember him moaning around November/December last season about our transfer business. So it's hypocritical as well.

I'm not sure if it's the same people moaning every year, I think it's unfair to belittle others because people have been wrong before. The club won't get it right every year and they run a risk every year by selling key players, the Premier League is such a competitive league that it's hard to not to have concerns - there are 19 other teams all doing their best to improve, who's going to be the next West Ham/Saints/Leicester? Obviously clubs like Sevilla & Dortmund survive by selling key players every year, but they play in weaker leagues so can afford to take gambles.

No ones in a comparable 'meltdown' to Tom's over Puel, they're just expressing concerns over whats happened so far, and what's come out of the club via the press.

£13M is a good price to get, but is there a chance GP will say 'no?' Thought he had his heart on a return to his homeland, and we won't get anywhere near that from there.
