I'd be interested to know (but not interested enough to find out) if it is the same people every transfer window. Loads of time.

 

We'll absolutely buy players. It was probably a blessing in disguise last year that we the failed to advance to the group stages, however...our squad was stretched pretty thin even without it. Also unknowable whether our buying habits would have been different had we not gotten knocked out, though.

 

Where did anyone say we are selling up? The point most of us is making is that the board "seems" to be attempting a radical shift back to our academy to first team system with a desire for five academy graduates in the team. This is a system which we could phase back in, sure, but not a workable short term plan. If this isn't what we're,doing then everyone will be happy.

But you see, some of us have opinions and worries and go on a forum to talk about them. Personally, I am amazed that grown up people think the appropriate response to the opinions of others is to simply belittle it with childish comments about wetting the bed.

 

I haven't got any particular examples but the club (Les) have regularly said they won't pay over the odds for players. Hopefully the board will recognise the shift in the transfer market with the new TV deal and foreign clubs looking to cash in on selling the PL clubs.

As I said earlier, if the rumoured bid for Boufal was true then it looks like we are willing to spend, and if we get Nagy then that will be a truly outstanding signing. My main gripe was the idea that the club have come out and said we don't need to replace Pelle when we clearly do.

The days of us being able to compete for Europe with calculated gambles have gone though, too many clubs have too much money and they're willing to spend it. We need to make sure we spend, and spend wisely. I think the loss of Paul Mitchell hit us hard, I'm not convinced by Ross Wilsons pedigree.

 

It is understood that Saints are not going to move to immediately to replace Pelle once the move is complete.

People need to read the Echo article. It also reads like it is the reporters own views and not the clubs.

If the Echo is correct, the club have said that have already replaced Pelle with Austin. His fitness is what worries me.

 

I wrote quite a big reply and then deleted it.

I'm feeling pessimistic and I think the club, so far, has got it wrong.

I'll post no more on the topic and I won't be searching sites and forums for signing news because the club has more or less said 'don't get too excited'.

That sounds like club fed information to me.

 

The part at the bottom were he talks about Long etc is the part I am on about.

Les Reed may as well have written the article himself IMO, sounds exactly like the club line we've heard to date/

 

It must be nonsense, there is no way we can go into the season playing twice a week with only Long as a "proven to be fit" striker. Utter nonsense.

 

I'd really like to see us replace him. Without Pelle last year (Jan onwards) we would have had to rely solely on Shane Long. If we use Jay as a wider player then you need at least 3 strikers.

 

IMO I don't think Puell would have come here if he was told "by the way we are selling 4 players of which 2 were our top scorers and we are only buying Remond in"

We will be buying I am sure.

 

interesting to see a few that have complained about the messages coming out of the club to be inaccurate and not necessarily trustworthy are taking comments from the echo which are considered negative to be gospel.

 

Maybe we should wait and see what happens.think we are in good hands

This doesn't even make sense. The Echo stuff comes from the club. That's how it works. I know, some of my close friends have worked there / do work there. Comment pieces are labelled as such.

Actually, we are all desperately looking for soemthing positive - we love this club - and not finding anything!

 

Seager is also returning from a major knee injury, and likely won't play for several months.

 

Garcia would have said 'no' to that!

 

I forgot about that, was really unfortunate for him as it came straight after scoring his first ever goal. I'm actually quite excited to see Gallagher this season, he looked like he was starting to fulfill his potential towards the end of last season.
