Reports in the chronicle say that joey was said to have been having a massive row with team mates before, after and during the Leeds game, anybody have any idea who?

he was supposedly really p*ssed off that cabaye was to take all free kicks and corners too. i imagine pardew probably just wanted to take a look at him in the role but barton took exception to this as well as refusing to shake pardews hand after being overlooked for the armband in favour of the Goala.

you've got to wonder what the new guys must be thinking seeing him go on like that when they've jut been signed up and are new to england and the way thigns are done over here...

If any of reports are remotely accurate then it's not positive for Joey .. if he threw a strop because he wasn't made Captain and wasn't the primary set piece taker then some true colours began to show .. that's a bruised ego, and lack of respect for team mates, manager and club .. so he can keep his 'pride and honour' speeches as they seem quite empty and only designed to garner pubic affection for one person .. JB ..

    Clever lad ..

From the reports I saw on the game they said Cabaye made some cracking deliveries into the box from corners etc and Taylor was on the end of most of them so maybe just maybe Pardew was right?

Barton is a little sneaky **** simple as that and he is trying to blind all you mags with the fact he wanted away simple. If I was Ashley I would have sacked the ****er too. All this Im a changed man bullshit did not was with me and not just cause I am a SAFC fan. His twitter comments were enough to tell you the guy is a tit.

You are better off without players like this little creep and looking at your midfield this year you dont need him anyway. I am sure agent Ashley will give Pardew some wonga to spend on 1 or 2 more.

I'd seen a quote on Twitter think it was one of the local press guys (can't remember) but it said something along the lines that Barton was arguing with Pardew because he didn't get captain for the game and wasn't taking the free kicks.

I'll see if I can find it

can you imagine if he's mouthing off in front of cabaye asking why he should be taking all the set pieces etc? cabaye will have just been doing what he's told then he's got some pyscho scouser kicking off because he thinks its his god given right to take them?

if he did end up at a bigger club he would very quickly be the little fish in the big pond. he wouldn't ealk into that role at any other club so hes gonna have to learn to take it on the chin and work his way up. As decent as joey is at set pieces he can be very inconsistent at times and cabaye by all accounts is known for his reliable dead ball ability from what ive read. Pardew is using the pre season to take a look at his options.

barton was overlooked for the captaincy at leeds for the same reason that he was when they named colo. the want a bit of longevity in the role. we don't know how much influence ashley has on the team affairs and whether or not he's leant on pardew to alienate JB but to me it looks like a spoilt kid throwing his toys out of the pram rather than pardew being puppeteered from above.

Just read in the journal that he was arguing with steve stone and john carver during the warm up at leeds. they must have been the one to tell him that he wasn't taking the set pieces...

    http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/n...mmer-of-discontent-gets-worse-61634-29159539/

"Supporters had spotted him arguing with both John Carver and Steve Stone during the warm-up and his agent Willie McKay told Talksport yesterday that the decision to strip him of corner kick and free-kick duties had irked him. It is understood he also wasn’t happy at being overlooked for the captaincy."

"Barton gave a red-faced tongue lashing to his team-mates in the dressing room – including new arrival Yohan Cabaye and several younger players"

Scott Wilson (Echo) is claiming that Pardew was also a target of the dressing room argument.

"Twitter rant was the final straw, but Barton's tirade against Pardew and players in Elland Road dressing room set the ball rolling. #NUFC"

Yohan Cabaye is a much better player than Joey Barton.

it says that he was having a go at the younger players too. for a club whose future lies in the hands of talented youngsters we can't have senior players bullying them when they really need to be building confidence and growing into the team.

Going to be interesting to see how this works itself through .. looks like McKay has dropped a clanger by confirming his little episode .. of course (just to swing things around for a moment) this will be seen by the hardcore Ashley haters as Barton showing passion, as apposed to Pardew using pre season to view the capabilities of the rest of the team .. there's always an opposing viewpoint :)

Why does anyone beleive this is remotely accurate ?

This is from the same club administration who planted stories about Keegen in the press immediately after he left which were found to be wholly untrue.

Theclub is trying to smear Barton's reputation. I can't say for sure it isn'ty true, but there's no reason to beleive it is.

Incidentally, I was at the game and there was no sign of a row during warm up, as suggested

Journos looking for a story now. They're all spotting the opportunity to reopen our soap opera status. I don't imagine he would be happy if he lost free kicks and was overlooked as captain. I'd imagine Pardew has been told not to pick him as captain, but I think the free kicks etc ill be a footballing decision as Joey can be quite wasteful with them at times. Its all no big deal and this is a common occurence at football clubs at all levels across the land. Not that big a deal to be honest but I'd imagine Joey like several other players have had their fill of shambolic management. Hopefully they can all keep it under wraps and get on with the job in hand. No excuses come that first match, no good feeling sorry for ourselves. The club is run the way its run and we pay good money to watch.

You know, I almost wonder if Barton is actually one of the causes of the dressing room unrest. I think a fair few players (especially the new signings) would feel much more comfortable if Barton left.

What annoys me is this is only a pre-season friendly. Stuff like this gets swapped around all the time to get tested out, much in the same way Krul, Harper and Forster have all been rotated. Cabaye was just given a shot at corners and free kicks so Pardew could see how he was.

And if Cabaye IS better at them, he'll obviously continue taking them. That's what competition is all about, and Joey should know that.

Probably a fair amount of truth in that .. there's always two sides, I would imagine a lot of blame lies with both parties (management and Barton) and whatever realtionship there was has just completely broken down .. I'm still on the fence on this .. someone made a great comment on twitter yesterday in response to this .. something along the lines of "I'm all for protesting when I am in possession of all the facts, unfortunately that is simply not the case" ..

His agent said on Talksport yesterday that Barton was unhappy about not being given the captaincy and Cabaye being asked to take the corners and freekicks

I think that Barton knew exactly what he was doing when he went on twitter, and I think he also knew exactly what would happen.

Yes, he was part of the great team spirit that got us promoted and kept us up last year, but who is to say that with the departure of Carroll and Nolan, he has changed from being an asset in the changing room to being the voice of descent and is causing unrest with the new signings because his mates have gone.

Back to earlier comment, is there a credible (or even identified ) source for any of this ?

Or just a well placed and completely unbiased club insider ?
