The increasing violence of American police against African American citizens really is just sickening.
Sadly, I don't think it's that it has increased, just that it is finally getting attention when it happens.

Shocking. Multiple gun attacks now. Five officers dead, many more people injured. This looks set to continue.
That might not be a "sadly" then, if it is not increasing but getting highlighted more, maybe (and a big maybe) something will be done about it.
It also boils down to guns again. If you arm a population the police get jittery. If they're institutionally racist as well, it's a heady combination that's only going one way.
