Bournemouth have had a £15m bid for England U21 international Jordon Ibe accepted by Liverpool, according to Sky sources. Ibe, who joined Liverpool from Wycombe Wanderers in 2011, has found first-team opportunities limited under manager Jurgen Klopp and started just 12 Premier League matches last season. The 20-year-old, capped four times at U21 level by England, is currently contracted to Liverpool until 2020 after signing a new five-year deal to remain at Anfield last May.
I'd say currently, 6/7million, complete guess work though. Players are worth what people are willing to pay for them
Ibe is **** and he's gone for £15million. That's Tees point! If I've is £15m, Watmore, who has shown he's likely to step up is surely worth more!
Ibes played 4 times for the U21s and barely played in the Prem. Watmore is regarded as a key player for the U21s. He got player of the tournament last year in the Toulon cup and hes recieved various motm awards. Hes also made a fair few Prem appeariances and has a few goals under his belt.
Ibe will be regarded higher cause he plays for Liverpool although our U21s have been better than theirs over the last few years.
I don't think anybody can laugh at Liverpool's Andy Carroll purchase anymore, after they've sold Sterling and Ibe for a combined £65m
Our Jordan looks like a real bargain in that list, and my feeling is he will get even better in the coming years. The market has gone mad, the money being wasted by poor judgement is mind blowing. Lets hope our clangers are a thing of the past, and Big Sam signs an extended contract soon.
It was a very good deal at the time, but it looks a snip now in the current market. As you might guess I am a fan of the lad, and he is hopefully just coming into his prime, Stevie G was always going to be a very tough act to follow but Hendo has hung in there and done well.
He's a good player mate but incredibly limited. He's stopped improving and if he stays at the level he is he is marginally better than average. I'll take £16million personally, I'd take it again right now.
I've always been a big supporter of Jordan and would love to see him excel in the game. But I have the feeling that he'll fail to become a top player, I couldn't really say what his greatest strength is tbh. He's not a captain or a leader, doesn't score enough and has too many periods when he 'vanishes'. This is another transfer window when no top clubs seem interested which may confirm my feelings that he's not quite a top player. Hope I'm wrong though, he's a totally decent lad from what I've seen.
As we are comparing like for like Watmore would be valued higher than Ibe.. based on England U21 and Premier league appearances / performance. it's not as simple as saying if Ibe is worth 15m, then Watmore is worth say 20M.. It boils down to the selling club getting as much for a player and the buying club paying what they think the player is worth. (stating the obvious) Remember we paid 8M or 9M i think for Connor Wickham ; and got back 7M (not too bad) - bought only because of potential - same reason Ibe has gone to Bournemouth - Arteta went from Everton to Arsenal for slightly more at 10M that window. Potential v Experience + Perceived worth (exclude Daniel Levy from this he's Just a total T##T
