So even if Pelle stays do we think we need another striker? Austin and Rodriguez are coming back from injuries and may/or may not be good enough, plus Long. Personally I think that if a £10m bid comes in for Pelle we let him go as we should be looking for a striker to replace him anyway, and why wouldn't you take £10m for a player who will be gracing your bench, and be leaving for nothing in a years time.

So in that case, surely it makes sense to sell Pelle when his stock is high and we can get a reasonable fee for him? Yes, the new striker or a combination of players here may not be as effective, but we are going to have to roll those dice now, or next summer, so why not now when Pelle is (supposedly) attracting pretty big bids?

I agree. Mix in the possibility that Pelle's knee will leave him injury-plagued and it's a no-brainer for me. Even if the mooted large bids prove ephemeral.

Not sure why people are annoyed about the comment of "like anyone". It is true. You can't even argue that it isn't. That is our business model and it bloody works. If someone offered £50m for Van Dijk we would sell. So yes, we do sell anybody if we get a good enough offer, it's just that our definition of "good enough" means clubs are forced to pay over the odds.

Agent of Koumar Babacar said to be on way to England amidst interest from EPL clubs, including Southampton. Sounds more like a fishing expedition. Says at bottom that Boro may be interested in Robin van Persie.

    Dirt cheap Romanian anyone?

Or perhaps a little something from Holland?

    No thanks on Babacar.

Would definitely take Stanciu for that, though we could do with adding another winger on top; it's a big step up from the Romanian league, one unlikely to happen seamlessly from the off. Redmond/Tadic/Stanciu/someone else would give us a tonne of tactical options and depth, however.

Please no Dost. He's a poacher, like Austin. He's injury prone, like Austin. He isn't half as good as Austin. Having de Bruyne and Schurrle in 2014/15 setting the plate made him look far better than he is, IMO.

What we actually do is have a strategy were we are willing to let a few players leave in a season if their price is met. We also have players we are not willing to sell for anything, Dijk is one of those plays for this season. Then next season we will look at it again and decide. That is how it works, not simply any one will go if a big bid comes in.

I favour keeping Pelle because he is a known quantity, familiar with Saints and the EPL...no guarantee with a newcomer. However, I recognise that he may fancy a move and he could fetch a good price at the moment...though I'd rather he went abroad. The biggest question is....how fit are JRod and Austin for a long campaign. Perhaps we need 2 strikers if Pelle goes.

We've sold one striker. Not sure we can afford to lose another, whoever we're planning to bring in.

Personally I think three central strikers is enough if we're going to play 4-3-3.
Jay and academy lads can add depth.

Three strikers for a 4-3-3 would be enough, although with Austin and Rodriguez I'd say we'd need another due to the likelihood of one of them becoming injured. Long hopefully replicates the form of last season.

Pelle, Austin and Long would be my guess.
