What's reassuring about that story are the reactions of the witnesses. Its good to know that there are still good people in my home town who will not tolerate bullying like that.
I caught the tail end of a programme recently so my place names may be a bit hazy, but I got the message right. Around the Finsbury Park area of London the local mosque was destroyed by fire. (Cause unknown). The local Synagogue has stepped in to provide rooms for the Muslim congregation to have prayers and meetings particularly over Ramadan. Since everybody has been getting along so well they have been having joint Services and regular, 'get to know your neighbour' meetings. Now The Call To Prayer comes from The Synagogue, at least till the new Mosque is built. Like most religious books, The Koran can be a little confusing and contradictory. It's now many years since I read it, (or The Bible), but I recall a short phrase that stuck with me. In the translation I read it was, -- Consider the People of The Book as Friends. The People of The Book are Muslims Jews and Christians. Some Islamic scholars include Hindu's.
Your last part about the phrase is correct. It does say that. I think its something about all the peoples of the book, whether its muslims, jews or christians all being the descendants of Abraham.
My Mams friend, has been friends with a Turkish bloke who has lived here for years. They went out for a meal on the weekend and coming out of the restaurant, he was attacked by a few lads who told him to **** off home, and his jaw is broke as a result of it.
People who go out of their way to make other people unhappy deserve a good kicking. Simple as that...
When I grew up in Sunderland the schools I went to (3) were 100% white, all we did was fight with the catholics next door, we have had to live with many unwelcome changes in our society but I still cant understand why women have to wear such provocative clothing, concealing their identity in public, which is to me rather intimidating and mildly offensive, but I would never condone the behavior reported and I am sure those who carried out this cowardly attack will be rightly punished. I can also add that I have been in the past set upon a few times by assorted yobs in the town center often for no reason whatsoever, just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, of course this raised no interest from the police or the local rag, I am pleased to say.
People should be able to wear anything they like. If they want to wear a veil what the **** has it got to do with anyone else?
I've only ever spent one night in prison and it was Monaco. The bloke in the next cell was from Lyon and on holiday with his family. He'd been arrested for wearing flip-flops and shorts in Casino Square. And then there was this idiot .......... http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news...ested-wearing-offensive-hillsborough-11402827
Gerrin! I saw that spread all over twitter. Spread like wildfire to try and identify him. Chuffed they've got him. Power to the people.
National security, mate. What is to say a 'known terrorist' won't slip one on to get into the tube station, under the cover of a veil, because he knows there's a high chance he would be spotted and stopped if he tried to enter?
like i can walk into a bank wearing a veil, how the **** do you know their identity if you cant see **** all
