I think it's a cracking Idea. One of the main problems with the development league is the lack of physicality as they're all still boys waiting to become men, it's difficult to give everybody that physical aspect to learn from. They'll get it here. What's more it gives teams from the lower divisions the chance to scout the best up and coming players with a more realistic playing environment representative of how they may actually cope with the physicality. What's more it allows them to check these kids out with minimum scouting overheads which will help them gain a lot of value from their scouting network.

Agree Bri, and, if successful, it will certainly help the current hapless England set up !

Great thread - we need this type of reorganisation for the good of our national team but it must not lead to premier B teams in the football league.
I guess we watch this space for similar developments - bit like the council "have a good idea then suck it and see what happens "

I'm all for it. Give the young'uns the chance to prove themselves against professional opponents.

If the groups are regional this will give us the chance to beat the mags this season so this must be good.

That's the worrying part of what I think is a good idea. I think they could take it too far and push for B Teams which I'm dead against. It's great to give youth the chance to compete with seniors. In a small dose it will benefit all. But a full introduction I think could harm both youth and lower league football.

Dead right it COULD be given a head of steam and then milked by the Premier league (tv companies ?) to the detriment of our game - but suck it and see and hope a successful Consecratio Excellentiae

Isn't this the only realistic chance of a trophy for teams in League 1 and 2? Also a very high chance that their big day out (and pay out) at Wembley, will be sabotaged by the big boys. In the interests of fairness, I'm against this.

Depends how good you think the young of this country are. I think the physicality will be too much for 90% of the youth teams.

At the moment, I'd fancy at least one of the big boys to make it to the final, just about every year.

It will be interesting to find out, though <ok>

That's init. I think majority of youth systems are going to get smashed. The big boys aren't exactly big. That's going to be the problem imo. We'll see indeed.
