James McNamara from the Post have tweeted just now that Taylors future will be clarified in the morning!

Technically, he is no longer our player as his contract has expired. So, he dont have to turn up and train with us. He can just stay at home and sort out his future. He would have been given a fitness schedual to follow during the summer to keep himself fit. He would be continuing this to be fit for us or another club. But the point im making is that he is no longer our player so of course he wont be at our training sessions. Therefore, the fact that he was not at training doesnt mean he has gone. Put it this way, if he has signed for another club, wouldnt that club have announced it by now? So he hasnt signed for anyone else as of yet. He may have been waiting for DC to return from his honeymoon which was yesterday apparently. He may be happy to stay with us but wants to talk about minor details. Who knows. I guess we will have to wait until tomorrow <ok>

Well you all know my views on Taylor. Hard working player and scores plenty of goals. But misses so many sitters its unreal and was very lucky to have been given time by DC to prove himself. Most managers would not have given Taylor this chance when he went 10 games at the start of the season without a goal.

If he stays then great. If he goes then great. My tin hat is on but I trust in DC to bring in someone who can score goals in league 1 if Taylor goes.

I don't think Matty Taylor will find another manager who is as patient as DC was, yes he works hard for the team, yes he scores goals for the team but as CJS states he also misses a vast number of chances.
I hope he shows a bit of loyalty to the Rovers and stays but if he feels that the grass is greener on the other side then good luck to him and if he ever comes back to the Mem to play I hope the fans give him a good reception.
I truly believe that DC has a replacement lined up or another striker ready to join the club in our Quest for forward movement

He is probably hanging it out in the hope that Man Utd will come in for him.

Maybe its time to make up his mind for him, we cant plan for the season ahead when you don't know who is going to be playing for you

And the wages we are offering would be a sizable chunk from our budget which could go on 2 or 3 good players and we could be and will be missing out on good targets while waiting. The trust DC has shown in Taylor and the patience shown too, I would have expected a bit of loyalty from Taylor to DC to give a quick answer and show the club respect who gave him his big break. Im not saying loyalty to stay but loyalty to give a quick answer.

Darrell Clarke has confirmed he expects to lose star striker Matty Taylor.

The out-of-contract striker is currently mulling over a number of offers to join Championship clubs after scoring 28 goals to help Rovers to promotion last season.

Rovers have since tabled a "fair and competitive" offer in an attempt to persuade Taylor to stay and that deal remains on the table – but Clarke warned this morning that "the door would not remain open for ever".

With news of a decision on the striker's future possibly expected to run into next week, Clarke indicated that he is already scouring the market for an alternative and that time is running out for Taylor to make up his mind.

"I was never under the impression that we were going to do anything other than lose Matty at the end of the season," Clarke said at Rovers Cribbs Causeway training HQ this morning.

"I haven't changed my thoughts on that, but what I will say is that the door is still open for him.

"I told Matty that when I spoke to him, but I also said that I don't know how long that window will remain. Things change quickly in football and we will have to see how the situation develops over the next few days.

"We will see how it goes but if I find a striker who can score 20 goals at the right price then the situation might change."

Taylor is currently getting in shape for the new season by working with a personal trainer away from the main group, and Clarke added: "Matty didn't think it was right to come in and train with us while all the speculation continues.

"He is a nice kid is Matty and I respect and understand his feelings about that. He has a big decision to make about his career and people have to understand that players have livelihoods to make. People talk about loyalty, but he has done well for us for two years and we shouldn't forget that."

One would hope he signs and bangs them in at L1 level then come January he will be fending of prem teams not championship and has will get ££££'s. Realistically though he would have signed by now if he had any desire to remain. Time for the club to force his hand, unfortunately.

Listening to that interview I get the impression that if the player isn't on a free we are not going to be interested in signing him, which rather rules out the realistic players to replace Matty Taylor listed on the previous page in the item found by CJS

I wouldnt say that to be honest <ok>. He is talking about fans expecting big money signings. Thats the impression I got anyway. He would rather sign players for free or cheap like £50k-£100k and get the best out of them (like he has for the last 2 seasons) and allow the big money to be spent on a new training facility and new stadium, which will allow him to work the players better at training and play good football in a new stadium. Thats what he stayed with us for. Thats how I read/heard that interview anyway. If a player comes available on DC's wish list and is on the cheap, DC will spend. But it wont be silly money <ok>

Here is a longer interview, 7 mins long...

    He discusses...
The break away that he needed and that he feels refreshed
What happened with Leeds and why he chose to stay.
    The fitness of the players.
His 2 new signings and further recruitment - not getting marquee signings.
Matty Taylor situation and confirms he got back up plans.
    Pre-season friendlies.

Also, if you open the clip into a full page, you can get a close up to DC's training top. The club badge looks ironed on. I hope the new shirt aint like this too otherwise i'll still to my current one. I cant stand ironed on badges.

CJS that was a cracking interview, I didn't expect Rovers to spend Millions on a player, I was joking about Roofe. The sound on the first interview wasn't that good so I didn't catch the transfer bit that clearly, I hadn't heard about new / improved training facilities are these going to be on the present site or somewhere different.
I am looking forward to see where the loan signings come from was rather hoping that the new backroom guy in the team might have connections at some of the bigger clubs, know he was involved at Mainz in the German league and I got the impression from the first interview that he did that there was a connection possibly to some of the premier teams as well
