Now Mourinho is Man Utd manager, he'll probably want to sell Juan Mata before the start of next season. He might end up moving to Everton but I wonder if Poch wants to sign him (doubt he'll want to spend any more than £20 million). That's if we don't sign Janssen

Mata was linked a few weeks ago, but that was pretty lazy join-the-dots speculation (namely Moronho doesn't like Mata, Spurs wanted to sign him three years ago, therefore...)

Mata is a brilliant player but isn't Poch's cup of tea for the same reason he wasn't Moanrinho's...doesn't work hard enough and doesn't track back. I don't see him improving the 3 we currently have. In fact, if Eriksen, Alli and Lamela can actually get a run of games together without anyone punching anyone or picking up niggling injuries, they'd be nigh unstoppable.

Looks as though Janssen will be tied up by the end of the week all being well, great to see the club getting stuff done early in order to have them in for pre-season. Safe to say most of us felt DM and ST were the areas that really needed work on as the absences of Kane and Dier/ Dembele were really felt.

Wonder what we'll do with regards to CB situation. Not a dig at Jan but Kev's performances last season means we won't really miss him for the first few games but it does leave us short in the area and would be a real problem if Toby or Kev got an injury. CCV could well be fourth choice this season, while for the first four games it won't be ideal to move Dier from DM seeing as Dembele is out for those games. Davies could be an option, he's had a great tournament for Wales in that back three and if I remember rightly he played about 45 mins at CB in the 14/15 season against Burnley and looked fine so it's clearly a secondary position for him that he can cover adequately. If Jan suffers a setback in his recovery then I'd say a new CB should be a priority, though for now I'd probably back Poch/ decision makers if they took the risk of going into the new season with no new CB and relied on Toby & Kev with Davies/ CCV/ Dier as secondary options.

Janssen latest: He was scheduled to appear on Studio France last night, essentially a non-awful Dutch version of Soccer AM - but AZ blocked his appearance, no doubt fearing he'd use it to speak out the remarkable bellendery shown by Billy Beane.

Janssen is rapidly developing into a repeat of the Berahino saga. I just sincerely hope that we don't wake up on August 30th with the clubs still haggling over a price. I'm inclined to say that if we can't wrap this up by mid-July, pull the plug and move on to a different target. If anything it will teach his dick of an agent a long overdue lesson in how to correctly hold someone over a barrel.

As for CB, the arrival of Wanyama probably means that Dier will be looked upon as 4th choice with CCV making up the numbers. If Toby or Kev pick up injuries that rule them out of the first month of the season, I'd be more than happy with a pivot of Wanyama and Alli with Dier dropping back into central defence.

More useless transfer speculation about players who might sign for Tottenham! <laugh>

"Tottenham are said to have expressed an interest in Juventus midfielder Roberto Pereyra, who is available for around £16million"

    https://www.clubcall.com/tottenham-...ielder-linked-with-spurs-switch-1814391.html?

"Alario has a release clause in his River Plate contract, believed to be in the region of £11million."

    http://soccersweep.com/2016/07/05/river-plate-striker-keen-on-spurs-move/?

Let's hope we can sign Janssen from AZ Alkmaar in the next few days, but I won't be surprised if it goes pear shaped!

    Just lifted this from FB

Tottenham target Newcastle midfielder: Interest to be stepped up after striker deal

    - FJ - MY TAKE: I'd love this signing to come true, he would add real strength in depth to go with the signing of Victor Wanyama.

Spurs are reportedly interested in a move for Newcastle midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

The 25-year-old impressed for the Magpies last season after joining for £14.5million from PSV Eindhoven, scoring 11 Premier League goals.

However he couldn’t keep Newcastle up and has been linked with a move away from the club following their relegation to the Championship.

New Everton boss Ronald Koeman is believed to be keen on bringing the midfielder to Goodison Park.

And now the Telegraph claim Tottenham are interested in bringing the Dutchman to White Hart Lane.

The report claims Mauricio Pochettino will turn his attention to Wijnaldum after completing a deal for striker Vincent Janssen.

Spurs have already added Victor Wanyama to their midfield this summer, but Pochettino is still keen on bringing another midfielder to the club.

Speaking about his future on Tyneside last month Wijnaldum said: “Of course I want to play at as high level as possible, in the Premier League, with a beautiful club.

“But not everything always goes the way you want. I will see what happens.”

    Do they know something ?

On the plus side, AZ appear to be signing a replacement...

...on the minus side we shouldn't forget the reams of bullshit Jeremy Peace was spewing forth last summer, not least how Kvetch Brom weren't able to sign a replacement for Berahino...in spite of signing Rondon and Lambert several weeks prior to Deadline Day.

Still can't believe West Bromwich turned down a £24m offer for Berahino ... because it wasn't all up front.
Personally was glad we didn't sign him as his attitude stank imo and in the last 12 months I have seen nothing to suggest I was wrong.
His value has plummeted and there don't appear to be a huge queue of clubs wanting him so there ain't going to be a bidding war to push his price up

I'm a fan. I think he's got enormous talent and have been saying we should be in for him since the last transfer window. This could be where we make use of some of our less essential squad players. Newcastle, under Rafa, would be a good club for Pritchard (if he is committed to leaving) and could be a great loan destination for KWP or CCV or... What we've got to avoid is a straight cash deal as it'll be too expensive for us.

I don't think Daniel Levy will want to be the subject of a cavity search so that Ashley can check there's no money left and we're not concealing anything. Given that Real are supposed to be willing to deal on Kovacic for slightly less, I can't see too many realistic takers apart from Everton at the alleged £25m asking price. Pritchard + KWP on loan + £10m sounds about right to me.
