I think, as the thread shows, that Brexit will just cause more divisions.

Maybe, things will get better, but it's going to be some time.

My Mother comes from Lewisham, my father from Charlton. They met, married and had Children. I was one of those Children and I was born and raised in the area that they lived in, which was Lewisham, London, SE13.

I went to primary school in Hither Green and then Northbrook in Lee Green from 85-91. It was a C of E school, and it was a ****hole. The school has been taken over now by an academy I think and been renamed and re-branded. The Lewisham I grew up in was infested with NF members in the late 70's, but there was always a strong anti racist alliance and of course a big afro-caribbean population. But I remember black kids at my school experiencing racism on almost a daily basis, not always overt, but it was there. Personally I think Lewisham is much better now in terms of the racist element. The problem there now I think is gang culture and gun and knife crime, and that is across all races.

I thought it was obvious that we would have to renegotiate trade deals with every country that has a trade deal with the EU. So many on here don't seem to realise just how many there are and just how long it is going to take

Our trade deals with the WTO were negotiated when we were part of the EU, the head of the WTO has said that the UK cannot simply 'copy and paste' these arrangements post brexit, but will have to 'start from scratch' and renegotiate all 161 deals, which could take years. Even if we want to get them done quickly, we are bound by the priorities of the countries we are negotiating with. According to the WTO, it could cost UK consumers £9bn and an extra £5.5bn to businesses in terms of trade.

Another bout of mass immigration will add to the problems....The only people we should allow in are those
that would benefit the country.Look at the waiting lists for social housing, how many people are homeless?
.......I feel the country is nearing breaking point as it is.

Northbrook has been taken over by a fantastic group of people along with a few other schools in the area, doing much better than it was previously. Really good teachers at the heart of it all.

Lewisham is one of the most multi-cultural areas in the country and in my experience one of the least racist.

It's also got a lot of investment in the area at the moment <ok>

Stop ****ting on lewisham and SE London everyone! (Not aimed at you PISKIE)
