    We arnet pushing Harper out, Pardew said today they were fielding a strong team against Gateshead to get fitness up.

    Harper facing Gateshead isn't a sign that he's being pushed out of the club? Keepers need games to get up to speed, and unlike most clubs we've got 3 potential first team keepers to get match fit, makes sense to use the extra game. Here's our keeper usage in pre-season:

    Darlington - Forster
    Kansas - Krul
    Orlando - Forster
    Columbus - Harper
    Leeds - Forster
    Gateshead - Harper
    Fiorentina - Krul?

    Forster will have had the extra game to give Pardew a chance to actually see him in matches with our team.

    Pardew said ages ago that he was using pre-season to check out the three keepers and none of them have had as many games as you would really like in pre-season so I really don't why anything needs to be read in to the fact that Harper is playing tomorrow.

    I think people need to calm down a bit we are starting to jump at shadows!

    Surely the extra game should have been Gateshead and not Leeds, this suggests to me is number 3 in the pecking order, and it wouldn't surprise if Ashley wants him out too.

    nolan gone , barton on his way with enrique and ****e like smith who contributes nothing on the pitch stays!! get rid of him asp

    as for harper he is more consistent than the other 2 and should be no.1 this season

    I'd be massively disappointed if we let Harper go. But I'll stop short of saying it would surprise because frankly it simply wouldn't. I think it'll just be a case he needs game time. He won't be on that big a wage so why force him out?
