Definitely, without doubt the more game time sam gave him the more he improved. Five mill. with no extra's, in big sam we must trust.
See I don't mind the extra's. If you put clauses in saying "If he plays x amount of games and extra £1m. If he helps in keeping x clean sheets. Performance related etc." as this shows he is succeeding at the club!
i think 5m would be a reasonable amount when you take into account his age and they way he seemed to improve under Sam. We certainly need a right back and unless Sam has anyone else lined up he is a good fit for me.
What does anyone think of Gunter? But out is £1million and he's looked ****ing decent in the Euros. Was rated as a kid, not seen much of him cos he plays in the Micky mouse league like the neighbours.
Would rather have gone for Tomkins but looks like Palace are really going for it this season with some of their reported bids.
He looked decent in the last game for Wales providing the goal assist. He's OK but not that highly rated at Reading and cost them about £2.5m in 2012. He's been playing in the same defence as McShane & Ferdinand this season Anyway it looks like Celtic are after him and ex-Reading manager Brendan Rodgers might just persuade him.
I would never sign someone on the back of a couple of decent games in a national tournament. I've seen it happen so many times. There's only so much you can show in 4 or 5 games (and I thought he looked poor against England if it was him at rb) so no thanks
Too true... Remember when Senegal beat France in the World Cup and then we had an influx of very average Senegalese players getting contracts over here
We signed Gyan off the back of a very good World Cup for £13m. Look how that worked out!! He was actually a decent player, but also a money grabbing twat.
I'm sure the Gyan offer was accepted and negotiations started before the world cup as Bruce didn;t want people thinking we'd only signed him because of the WC. -
Not sure about that, mate. We signed him on the last day of August, about 10 weeks after he was dumped out of the World Cup. Edit: I've just read, Bruce claimed to have tried to sign him a year earlier.
We need to try for Yedlin as BSA knows him he knows us and is improving game on game - why take a chance on someone else - often ends in tears in my experience
Yedlin is in Seattle with his family, Lamela is back in training camp. Lamela completed his international exertions the day after Yedlin did. Not sure how much Lamela played for Argentina, but Yedlin played every minute he wasn't suspended. (Thank you Sunderland afc) This includes 3 friendlies and a third place game. Does this suggest that Yedlin might be on the move sooner rather than later?
Surely, I was just inquiring about how EPL clubs handle summer international participatiuon in general.
Yikes - I thought I was initiating a typo (spell) check but I inadvertantly turned it off. Can't figure out how to re-enable it.
Some players haven't returned yet, Martial and Morgs will still be away for us. Zlatan's in LA. I'd expect them all to be back on Monday.
