Pelle for £20m?! I'd take that and run. Before the euros we would have done well to get £10m.
Don't get me wrong, he is a good player. But he is 30 and only has 1 year on his contract I believe. It's not as if he was outstanding in either of his years with us, he has just scored a couple of goals at the euros. Such is football at present, everybody (Clubs, fans and media) are so focused on the short term that a tiny display of good form can double a players price!

 

I think it really depends on whether he wants to go. No point in asking players to show loyalty if we can't do the same.

 

We ask the players and none of them do! If we can get £20m then get rid of him. I'm sure he wouldn't turn a pay rise down at this stage of his career.

 

I think Pelle would be off to London like a shot if asked.

 

It does make me smile a bit when I see stuff like this. Southampton's new manager is plotting to bring in a player. Southampton's new manager is doing nothing of the sort. He's having meetings with Les and Gareth and they talk about suitable players, and whether they fit the Southampton mould, and then Les and Gareth do the rest, which is the majority of the work, while Puel concentrates on his existing squad. It was the same with Koeman, Pochettino, Adkins and Pardew. It's the way Saints work.

 

Zaza's penalty got the attention of all the meme producers on social media but Pelle's penalty was the worst I've seen for years. That alone probably dropped his value by 50%.

 

Unfortunately, yes. I'd much rather he go to Juve so that I can carry on supporting him - it's going to be difficult to do that if he goes to Chelsea £20m though! Amazing what a good Euro Championships can do...

Some of you lot are bonkers. I hope you are not the same ones who said £11M was a good deal for 24 yo Victor, who could well become a great player over the next few years. One year left on the contract makes a sizeable difference to the fee paid......as we know only to well.

 

Bizarre.

 

Signing a contract isn't loyalty. All the players who have left us have had time left on their contract, it means nothing. Seeing out a contract is loyalty, I doubt they will all see out theirs.
