Not wanting to make a massive deal out of it, because it happens... But what was with the booing today? I didn't know Rosberg had any German fans (tongue in cheek... a bit at least).... or are we at the point we were with Vettel, where people are just getting bored?
Let's be honest here - out of Hamilton and Rosberg if you could keep either and have Werhlein as your #2 who would you keep? Bearing in mind the reason Mercedes-Benz spend so much on F1 is marketing I'd have to go Hamilton. If it was just on talent I'd go Hamilton. If it was in team harmony and someone who can tow the line it'd be Rosberg. The big question is how long can mercedes keep such dominance? Rosberg is great in a dominant leading car!
Are you really serious? If anyone was favoured it would have to be Rosberg...the first round of pit stops he was pitted first...I could understand that they were trying to get him further up the road and closer to the lead, but do you understand that Mercedes blew an over 25 second lead Lewis had over Rosberg at that point? Why they left Hamilton out so long after Rosberg was cutting his lead significantly? And if the excuse was that Hamilton was on a one stopper wouldn't them team ask Rosberg to let him by seeing that Rosberg would have had to stop again? Toto said they knew it would have been marginal to get Hamilton back out in front of Rosberg...so why was that an issue when Lewis had over 25 second lead. That should never have been part of the equation. The only thing I could think about is that Mercedes wanted a close exciting race. Had they pitting Hamilton a little earlier Rosberg would not have been anywhere near Hamilton's wheels furthermore crashing into him.... Mercedes are the ones responsible for that almost disaster. In other races when Hamilton locks out Rosberg he makes the corner not keep his steering wheel straight... That was a plain giveaway....Rosberg could have at least tried to turn..he almost ran off trying to run Hamilton off.
I think they all felt like Hamilton won unfairly- all they saw was a collision, and sparks flying off Nicos car. When they see the replays they'll understand. I think fans of the spectacle/sport will be getting bored of Merc cakewalks, especially in qualifying, but some people and especially sky sports, will lap it up still because it's a Brit.
I don't blame Rosberg for trying to squeeze Hamilton, I just think he could have done it a lot smarter rather than that clumsy effort. Squeeze him on the way out rather than on the way in.
I agree..Rosberg made it too obvious.. I like the fact that he wants to be competitive, but not that blatant...
Rosberg's main issue was Hamilon already being slightly in front at the braking zone and on better tyres at that stage of the race. Normally you'd expect the guy on the inside to 'hang' the other driver out to dry on the exit of the corner. Rosberg probably knew he couldn't do that as Hamilton would have had the edge at the apex therefore he would not have been able to force the issue as Hamilton would have been infront. I think it was a dirty tactic by Rosberg to not turn in and claim that Hamilton turned into him. Check out first corner at Fuji 2008. Hamitlon made a mistake and forced Raikkonen wide at the first corner and off the track because he did not turn in as you would expect. Hamilton got a penalty (see Miggins, see, a penalty for Hamitlon!!!) for forcing another driver off the track. Rosberg would have been in danger of that today even without the collision, so was the race lost anyway(?), for him amplified by the contact which then dropped Rosberg more places.
Hamilton has made a bit of a clown of Rosberg in the past with aggressive blocking and passing, so I can see why Rosberg wants to give him some payback, but I just don't think he has it in him. Despite Hamilton having a bit of a run on him, he should have come out of the corner with enough to run Hamilton on to the kerbs on the way out. Little did he know there was a yellow coming up. It all just came across clumsy and desperate.
now this one is very funny, now I know Rosberg lost his mind somewhere during that race..lol He says he gave Hamilton a chance to pass him...lol....does anyone do that in a race?he said he gave lewis enough room and was surprised Hamilton turned into him...lol. Yeah. Rosberg lost his mind somewhere..lol And after a bit of time to reflect, here's what Rosberg had to say about the collision with Hamilton: "In the last laps my tyres and brakes got really tired and I gave him a chance to try and pass me. "I defended the inside and felt in a strong position, I was convinced that I would make it stick. I went deep because that was the best way at the time to try and defend my corner, to keep him on the outside. "Of course I need to leave him room on the track, which I was doing, and then Lewis completely caught me by surprise and turned in. "Ok, so he said in an interview that I was in his blind spot so he couldn't see where I was, so maybe that might be the reason, but it just completely caught me by surprise that he turned in before we got near to the edge of the track even though I was there. "So then I couldn’t react and then we collided."
I could be wrong but I think he meant due to his error it gave Lewis a chance to pass, I don't think he meant he deliberately gave him a chance to pass. At least that's how I understood it. Though I do think he has lost his mind to think Lewis is to blame for it.
As blatant as moving mid corner to purposefully push someone fully onto the grass, I don't think so. what was the outcome of that, oh that's right, **** all. this is a ****ing joke, Hamilton had a full cars width on his left, so he had plenty of room, butI'm unsurprised to see the administartion back Hamilton again. Same old, same old, turn in on Hamiton it's your fault, Hamilton turns into you, it's your fault. How many times has Hamilton done the same? in Bahrian he did it twice a lap for 4 or 5 laps
Do you want me to start up an AA style group for Hamilton Haters? HH Anonymous. You clearly have a lot to get off your chest.
just the blatant hypocrisy pisses me off, Hamilton turned where there was a car, he still had room, but turned anyway, as he always does and it's tears at bedtime. When the boot's on other foot the stewards look the other way and his fans say 'great driving'.
My example of Fuji 2008 shows that when he missed the apex and drove a competitor off the track (because of a mistake, not deliberately) Rosberg did not even turn in. Can you not see that? Whether it was a mistake, car issue or intentional, the fact he made no attempt to take the corner means he was at fault for the collison. Based on the Fuji, even without a collision, Rosberg is likely to have got a penalty for that manoeuvre.
Isn't it hypocrisy from yourself as well then? If in your opinion he's been at fault for all of the collisions, then your own argument backfires on itself too?
He left enough space for Rosberg to put an aircraft through. I'd love to hear your take on it if the positions were swapped.
