I feel with the extra money this season roof players valuations have sky rocketed so that £12mill player is nearer 20 now. Bearing that in mind what you would now buy for that price is considerably worse skillwise.
Not me , all it means to me is a fool can be separated from more of his money ... Buying and Selling wise . Some teams with more money will sell players cheaper to buy other " Big " timers and others will pay to much for their new " Buys " . That guy who scored Wales 2 nd goal yesterday looks a great bargain for a start .
Roof! The approach is correct but it needs some luck and a good manager to KEEP buying low and selling high, season after season. and as above, inflation in football is extremely high.... along the same lines as the increase in TV rights. More money in simply goes out again. It is a slippery slope and only those with additional income or sugar daddies can keep up.
You don't build a good team with great players ... You build a great team with a good players MANAGED well . If Swansea have proved anything , it's this . The only time we've struggled is when Huw took over everything and hired a rookie manager and saw to the transfering himself . The transfer market so far has cost us nothing , and we had trouble getting money together to buy Monk's contract out , imagine if we start buying players for 30 million ..... God forbid
In our 6th season in the premiership we should not be looking in the bargain basement for players.....We have not had much choice in the past but the longer we are here the harder it will get to stay here.....we need a striker of quality and to get one of those we have to be looking at paying £20m + as these £8m to £10m are championship standard these days. Its highly unlikely we will find a gem in the bargain basement. Its not impossible but its a hell of a risk and i would prefer to get the strikers position right....
Robson-Kanu great goal and has had a good tournament as has the whole squad. But lets not get carried away he scored 3 goals in the championship hardly Premiership quality. There is a reason he doesnt have a club. I kind of get where you are coming from but cost of players rises with every season in line with what the Premiership pays out. As i said previously what you would have considered to be a lot for a player 2 seasons ago would now be considered a bargain
Last season we transfered Tabanou and Eder only , in the summer .We got 1 start out of them . In January we got Paloschi , we got 7 starts out of him . 17 million worth of transfers and only 8 starts out of a possible 100 starts ...... And we finished tied for our 2nd best point total . We basically finished our 2nd highest point total with no transfers . Big money transfers are highly overrated and having the right manager " Molding " a team is highly underrated .
He's a , on the free , home nation player who might just excell with a better guality of team play .His best numbers were his first season in the Premier a few seasons ago when he got 7 goals in 25 Appearences
I would sign R-Kanu all day long for the way he has played for Wales which is not too dissimilar to the way we play at Swansea...
I'd take him all day long as a 3rd choice striker. Trouble is, I'd rather him now play with a team week in week out as Wales will benefit.
Gunter worth a punt at £1m ... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ro-2016-displays-impress-Brendan-Rodgers.html Thoughts?
If I said on this board that the club were looking at buying a championship player who in the last 3 seasons had scored 10 goals in 93 appearances most would laugh in my face. Ptoplecseem to be getting a little carried away with a few good appearances and 1 class goal. I think we should be focusing on a 1st choice striker not 3rd.
I think Kanu is one of those players that can be mentored into form with a mix of opportunity and confidence building and see Guido as that mentor. Same goes with Naughton and Kingsley . My guess is Guidolin is going great guns over forming these two guys big time this summer . We may get Kanu on the free ( with the good Welsh feeling left from Euro ) and Guidolin will work on him quickly if he comes our way . Then wait late to see what kind of" Big Time " bargain striker might evolve . Same with Allen , if Liverpool blink we snatch him . Worse case scenario ......Gomis , Ayew and Fer can strike ( Fer has played and scored goals as a striker ) I don't mind paying 15 million on a striker ........that's worth 25 and unwanted and basically. un played where he is
Kanu is actually a winger that can play as a striker. I think he'll be our new Emnes and not a regular starter. I think the transfers have been quiet because the takeover hasn't been fully completed yet. Once all the paperwork has been completed then we'll see activity. We desperately need at least 2 strikers, midfielder and a right back.
Other teams started buying players as soon as the transfer window opened....Huw does things arse backwards and panic buy when the window is about to shut and all the good players have been snapped up....
If we end up with just two false strikers playing out of position (Ayew & Fer) and our star striker who cant hit a barn door with a shovel (Gomis) then we are in big trouble and Huw and Guildo should be sacked immediately....
We don't need a second or third choice striker as we can use the under 21's for this. We need a number one goal scoring striker.
You do need two quality strikers in any premiership team imo we have none at the moment....we have to be aware also about signing a player who could go missing during the African or Asian cup for 3 months....
