There was me thinking I would be more aligned with ALP and turns out I'm GRN. <yikes>
Took some time to fill in the Vote Compass - I'm from Ballarat now, by the way. ;)

Just how far are some people prepared to go? A total fantasy made up to smear Romanians again. Quite disgusting!

I'm about midway between Green & ALP - which was no surprise...

Why not further your attempts at "humour" with racism, homophobia, more xenophobia - all great sources of "material". You, sir, are a penis. A flaccid, dead-to-the-world penis.

I refer the Rt. Hon. gentleman to my answer in bold.

You bonehead. The Russians and North Koreans are thrilled about us leaving the EU - they support your 'ideas'. <doh>

You would be taken more seriously if you actually debated instead of childish name calling - did you stay up all night thinking of this nonsense?
    Get a life.

I feel almost disenfranchised by the referendum result. I am at heart "soft left" (yes- probably a Blairite). I believe in social justice, in providing help and support for people who need it, in a caring and sharing society where people help their neighbour. However I believe that a failing Economy damages all these aspirations. Only when Labour are realistic about the economy can I vote for them. I think Jeremy Corbyn has the best ideas and policies on the greatest number of issues of any politician around at the moment. However he has no leadership abilities whatsoever and is best suited to being a backbench "conscience". Secondly, he and the current Labour Party are still in denial over their role in their last government. Yes I know it was a global financial crisis but their policies made it worse and their lack of economic governmental maturity since give no reason to believe they would not make a worse mess of the economy if they got back into power now.
I have sometimes voted Conservative simply to rebuild an economy that could afford to be "nice". The 1997 Blair government committed not to undo Tory economic policy in their first term - and it was a success - Tory economics with Labour values. Shame about Iraq.
Now the Conservatives have wrecked the Economy more successfully than any government in history has ever done by bringing an end to our participation in the single market.
I will never vote Tory again, cannot vote for a Corbyn Labour Party, regard the LibDem leadership as pathetic and do not get me started on the Green's view of economics (sorry Cologne). Do not mention UKIP of course. I will have to find a good Independent if I am to vote for anyone

Chilcot inquiry publishes it's findings this week. I think the most quoted word of this week will be "whitewash".

Ryanair has cancelled 102 flights tomorrow due to air traffic control strike, the 53rd in seven years, and the 13th in the last 14 weeks.
The company has called on the European Commission to impose conditions on the unions. There are train strikes planned and petrol shortages ongoing.

Remember the bad old days when the UK used to be like that before Thatcher finally imposed order.

I will risk looking a fool before the Chilcott report is issued - but that will surprise nobody.
My guess is Blair wanted to go to war to support Bush - his friend and ally. He allowed himself to believe the reports that claimed weapons of mass destruction because that was what he wanted to believe. However he did believe it was an evil regime and also believed it needing bringing down so the fact that the evidence was dodgy was allowed to go unnoticed. More than that? I doubt it. I think he was essentially a man who believed in certain things and acted on those beliefs. It may be that your beliefs are not correct but that does not make you evil. A war criminal - not for me - but a hawk - yes..... and the war - should not have been.

Am I the only one that thinks the war would not have been necessary if Bush Senior had finished the job years earlier?

I don't believe that Blair was an evil person. However, the war in Iraq was not about evil regimes it was about oil. Had it been in the middle of the African bush then nobody would have been interested. Lets just say that he was incredibly gullible and that the right honourable member for Sedgefield was being economical with the truth. Weapons of mass destruction ready for activation in 20 minutes ? I can still picture him saying that now - the chemical weapons were a possibility though - because the Americans gave them these for the war against Iran. So, this evil regime were the goodies then - when Iran was the enemy.

No- because I think that too. Not that I am sure it would have made things much better. Why did they stop and not finish it off?
