Morning Andy, morning all from a damp, warm Weston-super-Mare. I was emptying my bladder Andy! :)

I was trying my best to think this was a pig's bladder ie a football comment. <laugh>

Heading up to Norwich now for a Watford football tournament! Couldn't be more apt. :)

Good morning all - it may surprise one or two to find me posting again - it surprised me as six months ago I never thought I would. However it is interesting to see how a bit of a break and a re-focus can help (together with extra strong hypertension tablets) :emoticon-0100-smile . Mrs L and I have been away for a couple of breaks in that time - not very far as she cannot travel very much - our criteria is we have to go somewhere less than two hours from home. All is not good on the medical front as Mrs L's heart blood clot has grown a lot but she is taking all the medication they are able to give her without disrupting the cancer medication. You just learn that some things cannot be changed. Enough of that though as if I return to posting more often I do not need this forum to be one of the places I am "reminded" of illness. I am also very aware that many on here also have their own extremely serious ailments.

So what has happened to the Nest - has Ak stopped posting too or is he simply absent because of some football tournament that is rumoured to be taking place somewhere for minnow nations?

Was it just me or did the second half of last season seem to be a horrible anticlimax? Fancy saying that when we achieved so much over the season as a whole. Strangely though I find myself really keen to see the start of the new season - we seem to have determined to hold on to a few players who are considered essential whilst adding extra strength to the team overall. Just over a month to go - wow.

Ditto.... and was wondering when you would be back on here ;) <ok>

Very odd end of season as we lurched over the 40 point mark and really seemed to have become very dull tactically. Le'ts hope the new coach has some good tactical nous. I am sure Iggy can be successful again.... but we need variety in attack and the ability as we had under Joka to mix it about during the game.

I am not sure what to say to you about the politics related threads... your choice.... but I must say a number of people have got pretty peed off about one particular poster and the history is there..... <ok> I like the debate but am not going to get to worked up about any of it..... as the country is where it is and we aren't going to change anything by debating...

Anyway good wishes to you both...... and of course most importantly COYH!

Very good to have you back Leo. AK said he had new bosses who expected him to work, so he might not be around very much. The end of last season certainly went downhill from what the first half led us to believe was possible. Some signings never really seemed to get going, although you could ask was it them, or the head coach. Before the season started I am sure that everyone would have grabbed the outcome with open arms, but maybe we all get greedy when we think that we could have even more.

The day so far is rather overcast in this part of the world, but the sun is expected later. I have some winter cabbage plants I must get in the ground as their roots are starting to come through the pots. Even something as plain as cabbage tastes so much better fresh.

Thanks all. Funny that if the two halves of the season had been switched round we would have been delighted and no managerial change would have taken place. However I think QSF was one dimensional so it is probably better this way. We have a horribly tough start to the season though - I am hoping we can claw together enough points to prevent us starting at the bottom.

I will get back to the politics thread at some time - I was reading a lot of it and the Brexit threads yesterday. Seems to me that some people set out good points and arguments but one or two - well one actually - has no ability to persuade but just reiterates a belief and takes pleasure being nasty to others. I confess he was the last straw for me in January but I now feel stronger and able to ignore without resorting to an ignore button. What I do not understand is why people who are "nicer" than me and do not like confrontation bother to look at those threads. There are plenty of threads on here that I have no interest in and I just never look at them. My view is that especially in the close season debating threads prevent the site from dying. I had my own reasons for leaving but sadly notice that there are a number of people who do not seem to be posting any more and not through the "fault" of politics. Not606 is far more sterile than the old 606 - where cross club banter kept posts coming in thick and fast.

p.s. Mrs L is very angry that we have been invaded by a species of "immigrant" moths that have consumed all her brassicas.

Good to see you back. Sorry to hear that all is not yet well for you both. I'm looking forward to reading your posts again whether I agree or otherwise. You have something worth saying and say it well.

    Morning, Dave; morning, all. :)

You'll be pleased to know that Norwich City won the little tournament we attended yesterday. We beat the rest, though. :)

    Morning Leo, morning all.
Great to see you back, I have only been dipping in and out this year myself (mostly to place my entries in the WPL - thanks Cologne) due to a job move and fewer free hours. Anyway hope to rejoin the community on here as I will be retiring next month together with a move to Birchington-on-Sea in Kent. So it's good bye to Borehamwood.
Shame AK isn't about I should think he is walking on air at the moment. Whilst packing I found my signed copy of 'The Glint of Silver' and having 'embraced' Mr Wards second novel. I willwill hopefully have time now to settle down to 'The Morning Gift' - thanks Theo.
I too was a little disappointed at the end of last season after being on such a high at Christmas and I am sure we would have got a lot more plaudits if Leicester hadn't had such a great season. I am looking forward to the new season as it seems that the Pozzo's seem very positive and also they way they have ensured Troy remains with the club.
Well that's enough rambling from this old man this morning, talking of old men it's great to see OFH is still posting and keeping us abreast of all news on his French holding.

Morning all, bright and sunny here today and the task ahead is to get my runner bean plants in. I received a notice last week to say that my small hamlet will be holding another feast later this month. Last year it was very successful with nearly everyone joining in. Dutch, French and English all coming together to enjoy the day, and even the dispute over the wind turbines, something that only the mayor wants to see happen, was put aside. As the Tour has now started I expect to see my neighbour's son Eric shortly. He lives in Paris, but each year comes down for a couple of weeks to do house repairs and painting in the mornings and watches the race in the afternoons. Before I had TV I would be invited to go and watch, and a four hour session with bottles open was something I could not manage every day.

A very good morning to everybody today - sunny and 20º here. We picked 12 kilos of gooseberries yesterday from our few bushes - getting scratched to b*gg*ry - then apparently we had to top and tail them - a long and boring job - and now Mrs L is freezing them in batches. BUT - gooseberry pies and crumbles and stewed gooseberries for a while now. In the supermarket they are being sold at nearly £4 per kilo!!!!
