Yep it was good. I'd like him to stay because like RP he won't have such a bad season again,I'm convinced of it.

    Who gives a crap?
Rooney looks like Shrek with anaemia and alopecia, but it doesn't affect his ability.

Good goal, I've never seen him strike the ball that well before.

    Yeah, he scored a few.
His overhead kicks against Bolton and Galatasaray spring to mind.

I think it's down to the formation, to be honest.
You can see that there are players beyond him and up supporting him, which prevents the defence from doubling up on him and gives him a little breathing space to play into.

I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again, but our problems up front last season weren't down to a lack of quality up front, but to a the unsuitability of our strikers for the system that we used.
None of them is comfortable in the lone striker role and it showed.

PNP- do you think its possible that 'Arry might see this and try to play to a system more suitable to our strengths instead of the opposition?

    Sadly not, PML.
I've seen nothing in the pre-season games to suggest that he'll change the system.

News Flash: Defoe scores a goal!

World News: Pav scores a goal!

    Pre-season results are meaningless, Ensil.
It's all about fitness levels, bar maybe the last game or two.

Ramos only pre-season at the club:
    Played 7, won 7.
    Scored 17, conceded 5.

I have to agree with PNP here.

Let's face it, the highest quality opponent we've faced so far is Brighton, and i mean no disrespect but we should be beating them whatever system we play. I still believe Crouch is a cracking player for a squad, he just needs that decent consistent strike partner beside him.

Let's look at this from another perspective.
Yes we need a new striker- thats a given, but our squad on the whole is still intact in spite of the hierarchy stating that we need to shift players and a certain other London club trying to poach our best player.
So in spite of this I am not all gloom and doom for the upcoming season, in fact quietly optimistic.Crazy maybe maybe not.:emoticon-0110-tongu

Ensil, I think he means that we haven't sent the club broke by buying overpriced and greedy new players.
Instead we haven't bought in anyone more significant than a free transfer goalkeeper and that would mean we aren't as strong.

Why do we always have a target painted on us- is it jealousy or something else that we don't know about?

I think he's trying to say we aren't as strong as our rivals comparatively this season?

    Too true, CN.

I suspect the famous Pav instruction to "just fackin' run about" is being used more and more.

How often do you see the words "Crouch", "scored" & "goal" all in the same sentence?? Says it all, really.
