Come on, we should be realistic, Joey Barton would be our best player if he were to join us, he's out of our league tbh! he'll go to Villa or Spurs IMO

There were reports Fergie was considering a bid last week so I think we'll be a long way down the queue, he is a quality midfielder whatever you think of him personally...

The self-professed best midfielder in the country would hardly sign for little-ol QPR.

I agree Sid, plus Warnock would be the perfect manager to keep him in check. We definitely need someone to cover / replace Derry.

I'd love to hear that conversation. "Joey, we'd like to sign you as cover for Shaun Derry. Are you interested? How does £10k a week sound?"

Toon fan in peace lads he's the reason we stayed up last year and will give Teaneck 100 percent. Gutted to see him go tbh.

He does strike me as one of those players that you love when they are in your team, and detest as an opponent.

Happens to us all. I'm trying to think of an example here of the same, but most of those that I hated before we signed them, I still hated while they were here. Paul Furlong may be the only example I can think of - and I took him some time to be appreciated.

    Can anyone help?

Not wot you would tell him that exactly, of course :emoticon-0120-doh: but they are similar players with massive influence. I agree that wages could mean this is probably a non-starter.

Would pick him up and drive him to loftus road myself. Quality player , yes a thug, but is that just reputation? Was Newcastles best player last season.

This getting to be like 'Deja Vu ' all over again.

I'd have Barton at the Bush, it is he who kept Newcastle up last season.
He is a quality player, who imo has matured a lot.
    Some folk might say...
'But a leopard dosen't change it's spots,' oh yes it does.
'You can't teach an old dog new tricks.' ...Yeah you can.
' One in the hand , makes two in the Bush????'... Whatever,
    Sign him-up...
But yes some posters' are correct... Barton v Adel may give us our 1st NOTW scandal.
Were back in the big time!

I reckon we should sign him IF we can for the reasons that he can 9and would) beat up the goons when they stitch him. <whistle>

Knowing some of the characters we already have, somehow I think I'd rather sigh the entire China U20 team than Joey Barton....

I dont think we have anything to worry about. As much as I hate him as a human, on his day he is a good player to have on your team, as opposed to playing against. And if we are all honest with ourselves, he is probably out of our league right now.
