You're running with the 'other players might have scored more' theory then. Yeah, Leicester would have still won the league without Vardy Ulloa would have got the goals.
No I'm not. I'm running with the theory that Portugal would be more of a team without Ronaldo, this tournament. Without him in the team, the games would have played out completely different.
In your opinion. But it's fact, that if you take his goals away, they would have gone home. It's fact that England went home cos we lost to Iceland, if I pretend Rashford started instead of Kane and scored 5 it doesn't mean we're still in the competition.
If Ronaldo hadn't of missed his penalty against Austria, Portugal would have finished top of the group. Ronaldo cost Portugal from winning the group? To say it's a fact that if you take his goals away Portugal would have gone home, just isn't sensible football talk. I'm sorry fella, but it's not.
All you're doing is talking about what might have been, but this stuff has happened, so it's nothing more than your opinion, no matter how much you want it to be something else, it's not, it's only your opinion. It's my opinion that we'd have done a lot better without Hodgson, but for all I know we might have been worse and never even qualified. Anyway, this is getting pointless, you clearly think differently to me.
Hmmm... i know what you are saying tel and you obviously want to back your chap ronaldo but ronaldo has been terrible this tournament. He's missed so many sitters and only turned up in 1 game. What you've done is pretty much like saying LVG saved you guys from being a club that would have drifted into obscurity. Portugal are into the Semis at the moment in spite of Ronaldo rather than because of. There best players so far have been sanches and Pepe this tournament
Having said all of the above, Whilst he's been missing a load of sitters, he's not had a terrible tournament if you are comparing him to a normal player, he was pretty much winning all the long balls up to him last night, he's still working relatively hard and he's not losing possession willy nilly and he's been involved building up the play. He's just not really had an impact and he keeps missing easy chances which is a big part of it.
The main point is mate, they have no other strikers, other than Eder and he's absolutely ****. Take out Ronaldo's goals, who's gonna score them? Harry Kane? It's a pointless discussion. We played them without Ronaldo, they weren't a very good team then, kicking players in the head and parking the bus. Sanches is a kid, younger than Rashford if I'm not mistaken... do you believe he could carry Portugal? I agree they're into the Semi's and Ronaldo hasn't been at his best, two goals, one assist, but they wouldn't be there without him. You think that just because he's not scoring, he's hindering a team? Look how many players he's got around him, panicking, dragging defenders all over the place, through nothing but fear. Portugal would have been dumped out of the groups without his goals, that's a fact.
You didn't read my post below the initial one. I think he's been okay this tournament and minus the sitters he keeps missing he's actually been quite good. I also didn't say he should be replaced as you have said, portugal do not have any decent strikers but he's been very disappointing and i don't think its far fetched to say that they have made he euros in spite of him than with him. He's got 2 goals and assist but if it was even just an average striker you would have expected around the same or more with the chances he has had (and the assist was cause he missed another sitter). I don't think that is too harsh on what he's done. You could also say Portugal would have been dumped out of the tournament without Rui Patricio, without his saves and his clean sheets portugal might not have made it through if you want to focus on his 2 goals he scored in one match
That's fine mate, I wouldn't argue with that. He's not been at his best, but he's contributed to getting them where they are, I argue without him they'd be worse off, that's all.
Well the Pogba transfer... 'Haha you bought your own player back that you lost for nowt, for £80m'... I'm not sure it'll happen, but he's a very good player, I just hope his attitude has changed enough to succeed in England. Zlatan, well, it's a marketing signing isn't it? He's incredible but I'm not certain he'll be happy playing second fiddle to Rashford Seriously, I'm sure Rashford can learn a lot from him, I'm looking forward to the season.
