England should take note - Portugal proving you can play like **** and still get to the semi finals. Still not won in 90 minutes.
Didn't expect an interrogation. Because I don't like Wales. Why would I want Wales to win? I'm English.
Correct. I forgot that everyone had to abide by these almighty 'supporting rules' that don't exist... Hate Wales, don't mind Ireland. If you don't like it, that's your problem. I base my opinions on my personal experiences of those nations and the people from them alongside football.
I suppose it's a matter of opinion. My view is that there have been a significant number of extremely close games...with some excellent football and the odd game that has been dire as a spectacle. Parity will always lead to fewer exciting games, but imo makes it all the more interesting. Tonights game was a battle between an excellent defensive unit against an alleged "attacking" unit. That's football and the difference between individual preferences. I didn't find it boring at all - but then I've always been a defender.
It wasnt the score line for me. For me Poland went up in the 2nd min and then decided to sit back and do nothing. Portugal has played really poorly all tournament and so they couldnt do anything of note. One team wanted to just sit back and then later wanted it to go to penalties and the other just watched Ronaldo scream and yell every time things didnt go his way. I really found it to be one of the worst games of the tournament. If Poland had continued to play hard and attack they would have scored a handful but their coach is obviously an idiot since this wasnt the first time they did this in this tournament. I dont mind defensive games this just wasnt a good one for me. Well I wasnt a defender like you but I did try to play one season in Germany but the coach told me to quit and go back to baseball. It was good advice since I did go pretty far in baseball.
If you were a baseball player I would assume you'd understand the tactics of football (sorry soccer). Get a decent lead in baseball & your starting pitcher is "on his game", he continues. If he shows any weakness, and the opposition starts to get an edge, you bring in a reliever to attempt to hold the fort. Then, in the 8th or top of the 9th, you bring in your best closing pitcher. I admit, todays game wasn't the best example of that scenario, but the Poles took an early lead against an reasonably potent attacking team, who actually didn't do too much of that, to penetrate them. As the game progressed, the Poles defended astutely, knowing that should it go to penalties, they had just had a major success in their last game in penalties. Not easy on the eye, I admit, but tactically very good. It backfired. We all see the game differently. Not enjoyable for you, enjoyable for me. The beauty of sport. I played sweeper/last man all my life. If I didn't touch the ball all game, and we didn't lose the game, I'd done my job. I guess it wasn't pretty.
