How is Ashley dragging us into anything this time? It's all Bartons doing, and he knows it. As for selling our captain, the drivel he came up with yesterday showed his true colours. "I wasn't offered a deal" "only an extension to my current deal" . Well Kevin, your current deal of £50k a week had TWO YEARS left to run, so you weren't happy that the club would guarantee you £7.5m and you were sad that they wanted to make the final years wage performance related, which obviously you wouldn't like because you might have to run and do some work, not just wiggle your arse at the opposing keeper. So instead you went down to the championship for money. In my book Ashley did the right thing offloading the greedy fat twat.

All the clubs doing for me. Its about the environment and atmosphere you create as custodians for me. They may very well need to reduce the debts but there are better ways to go about it.

Stop talking sense, he's evil and just there to piss off Newcastle fans! Why else would anyone buy the club and spend that kind of money?

Just because hes not doing it for ****s and giggles doesn't mean he isn't doing it.

He has lurched this club from one disaster to another, stumbled from humiliation to humiliation all through pig headedness, his autocratic nature and an inability to recognise his own incompetencies and the incompetencies of those around him.

My opinion is to the other extreme to yours.

Yes - I can see us getting beat by all of those teams next season, and finishing close to them, possibly below all of them. Why? I'll tell you.

    1) We have no proven Premiership scorers - not one. You might bleat out Denba Ba, but he has fitness levels close to Michael Owen. Oh yeah, that includes Shola.

    2) We have lost our team spirit, but with our manager, and all the senior players who helped pull us back together.

    3) We have little strength in depth.

But the lack of goals will see us go down again for sure.

The other point about this is that giving Barton a free contract now effectivly costs us the length of his contract if he leaves tomorrow - we'll have to settle his contract in full. So the £2m we got for Routledge is just written off and given to Barton - some reward for his cheeky tweets eh? Brilliant economics Mike!

Not a fan of Ashley? Could have fooled me, mate!

Will you feel so glad when we are relegated, and there is no spine in the dressing room, or a decent manager, to drag us back up?

MA is that stubborn that he will think the criticism he is getting, from fans and players, is all un-justified.

He's a ****. He's s bloke who's mother told him he was good looking and talented and he believes her. The day he leaves/dies will be one of the happiest ever!

He can't take criticism, he gets rid of those who criticise but does nothing to better his current attitude on things.

This. The man is a disgrace. I wasn't anti Ashley but today has pushed me over the edge. He is killing us. The Championship beckons.

The thing that a lot of people seem to overlook is the fact that Barton knew exactly what he was doing with those Twitter comments.

He's not as daft as some people make out. He knew fine well that the club would wash their hands of him if he continued bleating on Twitter, and in professing his love of the fans comes away like some sort of hero.

    Don't be fooled.

I can't stand Mike Ashley though. I'm not defending him. The secrecy and baffling management decisions are something I just can't get my head around.

But Barton certainly isn't the innocent party here.

I am no fan, I hate him but you can't blame him on this one. Yeah of course it would be devestating if we went down I just don't see us being sold either. He values the club at 450 mil. If he lowered that to 200 or 250 then I will be glad to see the back of him.
