I once watched highlights of west ham versus wigan (it was the last game on motd I assumed it would be sunland but we were third last so I missed our game) and three subs came on and all crossed themselves on entering the field. I wondered whether if there is a god (or is god , as is there a god implies there is a god) would really be that concerned about the outcome of west ham versus wigan and would he or she feel the need to influence the outcome. The game ended in a draw and that made it even more puzzling.
