Re the mortgage backed securities crash, which precipitated the 2008 crash. There are several who saw it coming, and made a fortune from it.

If you get chance watch the film The Big Short, or read the book.

    1. The dotcom crash.
    2. The CDO debacle.

Or are you saying that the actions of the financial sector in causing these things is to be praised ??

Not at all, quite the opposite, but I just don't agree with you slating every single economist or anyone in the finance industry because of those incidents and dismissing their opinion on anything finance related. I mean some may not have even graduated when the dotcom crash happened, and many predicted the CDO debacle as you put it.

It's a similar analogy would be for me to never trust any farmer ever again, and to believe I know more about agriculture than them just because of the foot and mouth crisis

I'm sure all 27 will line up, turn around and bend over when they realise that we're British.

Who's up for a chorus of Land Of Hope And Glory?!

Daft lad, he hasn't kicked it into the long grass, he has dealt with it and told them how he is doing that - passing it to the person whose responsibility it will be to drive it forward over a 2 year period. It isn't lost, it isn't forgotten, the markets know that, they are simply relieved Cameron did not invoke Article 50 immediately. There is a process for solution building, there is a clear intent to be constructive and consultative, which is what I have said from the outset. You and your Spanish Suffering ****wit, on the other hand, just continue to squeal about no plan and impending doom with no ability to explain why. You might notice some positive noises from the markets.

You're burying your head in the sand. The whole of the EU is telling Britain that if they want to access to the single market, then they will have accept free movement.

I do want to read something on the crash so cheers for the recommendation - though no doubt it'll depress me how little has changed since. In the same way as nothing has changed (just got worse) since the Leveson report (Manufacturing Consent by Noam Chomsky depressed me for the same reason). I'm going to read something about the pharmaceutical industry deliberately creating a dependency for anti-depressants.

    * I should add that a lot of people have made a fortune since the crash and because of austerity as well...

Vodaphone have just come out and said that they will move their UK HQ out of the UK and into Europe if there is not free movement of labour and goods between the UK and EU
