Not that I care much and I will not be watching it (on Sky) but I hope MB and DC are the commentators which will be shared across the two stations, I suspect Ted Kravtiz will be as well. As for the Sky anchor I want Georgie Thompson to present it, she is hot and is a F1 fan, the antithesis of Jake Humphrey.
I totally sympathise with you Cowboy. I love love love F1 and I never miss a qualifying session or race no matter what the time is. I love watching test cricket and football as well and they are both on Sky Sports. Having BT Vision available is really tempting me to garner 30 quid a month for Sky Sports. I have a real issue with paying for sports coverage and secondly a real issue over where that money is going. If it was going to ESPN I would probably quite happily pay for that. But this is worse. It's Sky. The major dilemma is do I love F1 more than I hate Sky and the Murdoch's? It's the former for me. Oh and mifune - Jake Humphrey is probably as gutted as we are, if not more so for seeing a job he loves taken away from him. He and the WHOLE BBC f1 team have done a truly outstanding job which no broadcaster in the world will ever match. Sadly it seems their efforts have been given the massive middle finger by the BBC hierarchy. Yes the thanks they got for massive viewing figures, award winning coverage and 110% dedication was to see it rewarded by getting slashed. The BBC should be ashamed.
I make no bones over the fact that I lean more towards the left than the right. Obviously I'm a little biased about anything Murdoch-related. But here's a fact: Hazel Irvine and Jonathan Legard would be an improvement over Georgie Thompson and Mark Blundell, if those rumours were to prove true. Never mind the actual BBC team. Aside from the BBC saving money, there is one small silver lining though. People attempting to watch the non-BBC races through methods of questionable legality are more likely than not to end up with Crofty's commentary on top of the FOM feed.
Like McFerrari, I too sympathise Cowboy. I don't think any of us who are refusing to get Sky (or Bt vision etc) are happy about it, nor are we casual fans who don't care enough. For me though, one simple fact made my decision for me; I will not give money to a company, and person, who hacked into the phone lines of innocent victims for their own benefit. Yep definitely feel for the whole team. I wonder how many other shows get awarded for providing outstanding coverage, only to then be cast aside by the beeb? I guess really, my suggestion for Sky is to completely arse it by messing up the whole thing. NO ONE WANTS YOU SKY!!
'Sky want Brundle as their £1m man' http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/7075289/-Sky-want-Brundle-as-their-1m-man- Sky Sports are reportedly targeting Martin Brundle to head their commentary team when they take over F1 coverage next season. On Friday, it was announced that Sky had bought the rights to Formula One coverage and will show complete coverage of the sport from 2012 to 2018. However, the sport will also remain on the BBC, who will show 10 of the 20 grands prix live and extended highlights of the remaining 10. Questions are already being raised about who will head Sky's coverage with the paying channel believed to be chasing Brundle. And the former driver, whose contract with the BBC expires at the end of this year, could be offered a seven-figure salary to take the job. "I'm still trying to understand the exact details of the Sky/BBC deal," he told the Daily Mail. "I can't make any decision until then."
I can think of no one more suitable than Flavio Briatore to anchor the show (in his thong), with Nelson Piquet Jr. and Pat Symonds. I think they'd strike the right tone for Sky.
I'd like to see Savage hosting it - after all he's proved he knows **** all about everything else he is on.
Yep, but he would then be the victim of a sexist comment by a female Sky presenter, who would duly be condemned to the misery of co-hosting a mid-morning slot on TalkShite.
To be fair guys, Jake came in for a lot of stick when he first started, with an obvious lack of knowledge in relation to the sport - he was a kids preseneter for gods sake? However, I do like him now (although his tweets are a little tedious and he is a little over familiar with the F1 paddock like he has been there for decades!) and think it would be difficult to see a new anchor person take over! To be fair though that role is a piece of piss if you have the right pundits around you! Martin has to be in the commentry box and for the after race discussions, without him it will be like the budweiser advert for football with the monster trucks and I think DC should remain with the anchor person as opposed to being with Martin - two tecky people is not the best combo! Ted Kravitz is excellent and I think he should have more airtime and be brought in on the post race action, rather than his home made video he does himself that gets posted on the website - its very interesting having an insight into the race from behind the scenes!
I don't think its a case of my not being a fan, more of it being forced to pay 600pounds a year when I have virtually no income and F1 is one of my only joys. Enjoy your sky coverage, look forward to my invite so I can come and watch.
She does well presenting SSN. I would recommend her. Jenson and Lewis will not be able to take there eyes off her.
If I had a sex change and acquired fake tits, botox, hair extensions, make up of a clown and all the lights in room to hide my wrinkles, I could do her job by reading a ticker tape and pouting like a bimbo, having some bloke that looks like a woman next to me. All pre written, no actual talent, she'll get roasted on the first practice session. And I'm not even being sexist, it's the truth.
A somewhat unfortunate expression given what you just said..............! as Lewis and Jenson work well as a team I would think they'd be first up..........
