It would appear to be a feature of the club going back to the early 1960's at least. Maybe Southampton isn't seen as a big city?

 

I really don't want to sign Berahino and am very doubtful that we would. He is over rated and over priced, our board are too smart to waste money on him. He had one good spell 2 years ago, that is it.

For anyone who is interested he is still out at 20/1 to join Saints, worth a bet if you think he is on his way.

Yep. Slowly, slowly then. I thought he may have been given a chance for the new man to take a look, or at least get him into a Championship club.

 

Rumour on Saintsweb that Sammy Lee has left the club....anyone heard anything? They are using it to support the rumour that FdB is in line for the manager's job, so hopefully not true. Don't care about FdB, but I like Sammy.

 

Wouldn't Puel like to see his players before sending them out on loan, i thought Mcarthy was getting closer to the 1st team squad?

Correct...easy to get confused on SaintsWeb. Some are still hoping for FdB.

 

Liverpool are denying they have paid the price Saints claim. They really should read the small print. Wasn't it Arsenal who had to pay us money every time Chamberlain played a certain number of minutes in a game. Wenger tried to be smart and keep it just below that time, but he was successfully challenged by Saints who pointed out that injury time had to be included.

Half decent article from the Echo. Actually asks all the questions and provides the odd answer. Truth is, Saints have to stop coming second. We are the perennial second place club. Look at Leicester City. They'ed won the odd trophy, but no huge list. But now they've hit the jackpot by being the first non-glamour club in recent years to win the Premier League, and actually do by playing the best football overall, rather than just buying enough players who were so good that it was inevitable. Well Saints don't need to win the PL to gain recognition. But an FA Cup and/or LC win would get their name back in people's minds. And not once in 40 years, but once in every two or three. Starting with this season and the Europa League. Now that's something really worth winning. That'll change Saints from being the middle-sized club to making a proper almost permanent step forward.
