The Brexit thread was an interesting read and I think further political discourse would be an asset to the forum.

I propose one permanent thread (a sticky I think it’s called) for members to discuss politics, current affairs etc. Forum members against political discourse can simply not open the thread.

As I understand it, when the forum was set up, a no politics rule was agreed. Fair enough and I can understand why. However, as recent events have shown us and will continue to do so, agreements are changeable and are fragile.

Other forum members may, rightfully, say that I can read or discuss politics on the wider Not606 forum or on specified other forums. However, during the EU campaign, I found it interesting to read what other members of this forum thought about such a monumental change to British life.

I appreciate that this will create more work for the moderators. However, I suggest that to alleviate this extra work, that the thread is un-moderated unless boundaries of decency and legality are crossed. Perhaps also, if the thread is allowed to exist, then another mod could be appointed to specifically moderate this thread.

I hereby call a (non legally binding, only advisory) referendum to find out what Not606 members think about this proposal.

One of the reasons I come on this forum is to escape politics, so a no from me.

Though it's a decent idea in theory, the reality is that as soon as you relax the rules, people post political comments across the threads. It's fine to control for a couple of days, but on an ongoing basis it would be a right pain in the arse, particularly as I don't believe for a second it would remain as civil as the temporary ones.

And you'd still be able to do that, as you don't have to click on the thread.

Tell me, are you really as jumped up as you sometimes appear on this forum?

I'm going to sit on the fence and go with the concensus.

I would point out that there is a general premier league board where such things are able to be discussed.

    This started well. not

For the most part the brexit thread went ok, and even though i posted quite a bit to it i would be against the idea of a permanent politics thread. Just got too ****y towards the end, the mods have a thankless task without adding to it.

    Definite no from me.
The mods could have deleted loads from the Brexit thread. it'll transfer to other threads and be petty point scoring and grammer corrections.
    Dont do it.

I'd prefer to talk politics with fellow city fans! Who would mainly have the interest of our area at heart!

I appreciate the sentiment, and if they could be civil, I'd be all for it.

Unfortunately they are never civil, thanks to a minority.

There are other places on this site for this, our Mods are busy enough dealing with footy and gentle OT threads, so, it's a no from me.

This is a Hull City forum.

    For Hull City people.

Why would we have a permanent sticky on a totally unrelated topic?

Or if we propose having a politics one why not have permanent stickies on a range of non-football related topics?

Why is politics so special anyway?

Let's have a permanent religion sticky.

    A golf sticky.

    What about knitting?

    Mole gutting.

    Shed envy.

All things relating to the color green.

An are American spellings acceptable thread.

    It's a no from me.

What I'd like to say before the thread might be closed! Just watching the news and I can fully understand people thinking these EU MPs are a set of dictating ****S! :emoticon-0148-yes: (That's all)

So long as it's appropriately named.

    'The Castro Thread' for example.
