The lad has talent and things just haven't worked out at WBA, I'd snap him up 100%, real potential.

Pretty heartened to see us linked with a pacy, young, tricky winger with a good goal scoring record, one of the best young finishers in England and one of the outstanding matchwinners in the french league last season. Not saying they are all true or likely but good to see.

Just read this article and thought it was a very good read - I don't agree that Redmond is a replacement for Mane, but other than that it is hard to disagree with this view point. We march on!

With £35m (ish) left from the Wanyama and Mane sales and the purchase of Redmond, plus the extra TV revenue, we should be extremely competitive this window.

 

Agree - the problem is we are competing with teams with real clout (either financially, club size or CL football) - West Ham, Liverpool, Leicester etc. I'd love to get business done reasonably quickly for the key players we've identified in key positions.

 

Plus a couple of million from Juami and large wage savings from these and those released earlier we are financially very comfortable to really push on and expand our squad to deal with the volume of games coming our way

Should be, but we don't spend money just because we have it and high fees mean high wages & agent fee's, which we won't pay.

I'd be surprised if spend over £15m on one player this summer.

 

There's plenty of good players out there for those prices.

I would be very happy at signing Berahino, but not at that fee banded about over the past year. He's not worth that. Ball park we'd basically be using all the Mane money on him, which doesn't come across as great sense to me.

That said, it rings a bell in my head that he now only has one year left on his contract? Correct? If so then you'd think he'd be attainable for £25m max, maybe £20m. (Although putting that down in black and white, even that I can't see us spending on one player).

 

No more than £10M. Max.

 

And Berahino is best mates with Redmond?

Why is it that Saints fail to hold their better players and managers year in year out. There must be something or someone at the club giving the better players a strange feeling that they have to move on - or is it?

 

Maybe the club are using it as a tool when buying players .as in,do well here and a big club will come for you in a couple of seasons?
