I dont quite understand this 'news' about @Joey7Barton.

He is still a NUFC player right...? So what exactly has changed apart from the fact we wud accept a bid of Zero for him, instead of a modest fee?

Have MA and DL cut off their own nose to spite their fat faces?

Joseph has said he doesnt wanna leave, so why wud he now?

After all the drama flying around, what has actually changed apart the fact NUFC wudnt make money off him leaving, like we should under 'normal circumstances'?

In a way you are right. However, it now means that clubs are more likely to come in for him. As for Ashley cutting his face off to spite his face, not really IMO. As Joey was quite happy to leave on a free next year, Ashley has effectively saved a years wages. Obviously that's depending on Barton leaving.

 

Because another club will no doubt come in for him this summer and the club will do what they can to push him out

 

He may have manufactured a way out of the club in a way that kept him respected with the fans and given him a better chance of a better move (bigger club, more money etc).

Or he may, simply, just been a massive pillock.

I think it's 99% likely he'll leave. Sigh.

 

But just putting him on the Transfer list will produce the same attention and interest...?

....putting a zero price tag on him doesnt do anything for the club....£1million wud do.....pay for some of those extortionate agent fees we seem to have shelved out, or massive wages we cant cope with...!!!

 

I think it's basically a way of Ashley saying "**** off, we don't want you" ('we' being just Ashley of course, and not anyone else) - trying to make it more 'humiliating' for Joey

 

Not much has changed, just means that whatever hope there was of Joey signing a new contract has now out of the window.

Yesterday Joey tweeted he wont be sold, he will either leave next season or go on a free. Basically I think he doesnt want his transfer fee to go into Fat Mikes pocket, but will leave is Spurs/Arsenal/Everton come in for him.

 

haha. I see your point, but I sincerely doubt we would've got a lot for him anyway. Besides, what about money that we got from our league position last year? And TV revenue? I doubt we've spent 35 million PLUS all that, surely? Methinks he's already pocketed himself a small chunk...
