Why? What more would it take? Another relegation?

    GFY.

So far we have let the top goalscorer go captain and best player last season its an absolute disgrace we should be building the team around players like them not letting them go

Its his own fault slagging off the club that had gave him loyalty during tough times in his career. Don't defend him because if he wanted to stay he would stayed off twitter and kept his mouth shut.

As for us being relegated. I don't see it at all, it may be a struggle this season but there are worst teams with less quality.

This exactly. Barton's engineered this all by himself. As much as I rate him as a player, he should of kept his trap shut.
If you worked for any company in the world and publicly slagged them off to millions of people, you will find yourself facing disciplinary action.
Why should he be so different?

The point is we shouldn`t have to struggle The fat controller must be laughing his socks off as we lament yet another quality player leaving the club

Mike Ashley is clearly hell bent on stripping the club down

I know ashley has his haters ( Me included) but surely he wouldn't be laughing his socks off. Prem survival is in his best interests. After all, he has alot of money riding on the club.

I'm not a fan of Ashley but why would you want to pay wages for a guy who is bitching about you on a site viewed by millions. He is taking a stand against players and I for one am glad he is doing this.

I wouldn't say 'glad'. A heavy fine would have sufficed (altho its possible that Joey said if they did that he'd walk). In the end we're down another good player this time without even getting any funds to replace him. Once again the fans and the team lose from the bloodymindedness of people involved in the club.

Some people are very easily impressed if they hold Barton up as a figurehead to get this upset about. He has had one good season for us but has been paid a small fortune for four years when the club stuck with him through indifferent form and his prison sentence. His complaints only started when he didn't get the deal he wanted after which he has time and again, in spite of warnings not too, run his mouth off to the media.

Barton is in the wrong and the club in the right. Ashley haters get your heads out of the sand and smell the roses. Barton is a self serving twat!

Can't see us being relegated - far too much quality and not players who are just in it for the money - thoroughly believe Ba, Cabaye, Marv, Benny etc are going to be working as hard as they say they will.

Yes exactly! Some fans need to realise that for once Ashley is right. Barton knew he wouldn't get a contract so he spouts crap on twitter to get fans on his side and so far it has worked on some of them.

There were much worse teams during the 2008/9 season. Dont underestimate the vigour with which newly promoted teams will want to promote themselves in the league and dont underestimate how Mike Ashley dragging the club into the **** can make a team fall to pieces

We will have a **** year for sure but not relegation. We, as fans will always be here, irrespective of who is running the show. Whilst financially we are sound, morally we are destitute at the moment but things will get better one day... For that I'm sure.

Fair point but can you see us finishing below Wigan, Blackburn & Wolves? No disrespect to them.

Just sick of the lack of respect being shown to players like Barton and Nolan - given what they did last season, they deserve at least the dignity of being able to renegotiate their contracts in a fair way - even if it is concluded that no agreement can be reached, rather than just tell them no contract offer is coming.

Having said that, if someone told me two years ago that Barton and Nolan were leaving I wouldn't have given two shiney ****s... How quickly things change.
