If/when we sell him isn't a figure of about 2 mil being thrown around? Surely he's worth more than that now.

Good in Europe. Good in Italy. ****e in England.
He's too lightweight for the Premier League and far too luxurious a player for a Sunderland squad that, over the last few years, has needed every man fighting for the team.
Teams with better players might be able to afford to carry a player like Giacc but if he does go to Chelsea other players in the team will need to pick up his slack.

Disagree, I thought he worked hard and fought for his place. In my recollection he always gave a good account of himself, his failure in England was more due to unfortunate injuries than anything else...

He's been great for us when given the chance. His form played a major part in keeping us up one season. He then had a couple of injuries during a time we were burning through managers and he hasn't had a sniff since. Very good player.

He is a quality player, and has been for us when fit. He has struggle with injuries for us but not when hes been on loan. Big Sam and his team have done tremendously well with players that have been injury prone for us, the likes of Kirchoff etc

I am hopeful we'll still keep him.

He has looked very good in Europe, AGAIN, he is injury prone, or has been for us, but for sure he is to lightweight and not suited to premiership. Or as you suggest we got his twin brother

If he wants to stay and we can only raise 2m on him, then we should keep for the season ahead.

    The 'too weak' is bollocks.

When he was fit and played he made an impact, it was injuries not suitability.

    I'm sad he's going.

I think his work ethic was more Borini, than Lens :emoticon-0112-wonde

I still feel strongly that SA should be looking at seeing if he can make something of him. He's got our injury prone players playing regularly and I reckon Giaccherini could still be a massive player for us.

Sadly though, it looks like he wants away.

You can't blame the lad really. When he looks back on his career, there'll be no sense of satisfaction of achievement.

I do hope that Sam at least considered the lad for the potential and then said no, rather than just discarding him as a failed project.
