OVERPAID, OVERATED & OVERWHELMED! You don't get much anymore for 300,000 quid a week and the highest paid but most clueless manager in the competition. After the 2002 World Cup, I promised myself that I would hope for nothing and expect nothing from England in an international football competition and as a result, I have neither been disappointed nor surprised. Roy Hodgson has never known his best team, best formation or tactics. He fits square pegs in round holes makes constant changes and clearly both he and the players didn't have a clue. There were some talented players in that squad but also some utter dross and Roy got the worst out of them. That said, the underperforming and under achieving players and staff coaches must also share the responsibility. You're bloody rubbish and a disgrace so hand in your jerseys and trackies and sod off into the sunset and count your millions. Oh, and to the English FA, take a long hard look at your miserable selves and equally miserable oversight and get it sorted because as they say, you are not fit for purpose. Mind, you probably have nice blazers. That said c'mon England!
The big question for me - and apologies if it was asked on the plethora of previous pages - but what exactly had the team done for the previous week? I'm being serious here, a full week uninterrupted is about as good as you will ever get at an international tournament (unless you're in the final) and it was a fantastic opportunity to work flat-out on our approach. We knew what sort of game it would be and exactly how Iceland would play, there were no surprises there, but we clearly hadn't prepared. Have they just been sunbathing with massive headphones on?
It is highly unlikely, in my opinion, that any player given the honour of playing for their country, would not bust their arse for the cause. Blame rests solely with Hodgson & the FA for hiring him, or at minimum for retaining him after the last W.C. The entire squad looked confused, hesitant and lacking in leadership - there was no plan for them to collectively get the best out of their talents. I feel sorry for the players who were reluctantly following instructions laid out by Hodgson. The poor lad Rashford was brought on with 5 minutes to go and expected to save the day ! Even Rose ( I think it was) went to the sideline to ask Hodgson what did he want them to do ! Unbelievable !
They were maybe working on Rooney & Kane? "Right you two we're on the big stage everyone will be watching so go out there and make it look like you've never kicked a ball before in your life" And it worked.
Oh well at least England has provided some comical entertainment this last week for the Scots, Irish, Welsh, Germans, Dutch, Italians, French, Belgians, Greeks, Poles, Czechs, Russians and anyone else who likes to take a swipe at us, it's only the English who are not laughing at the moment.
Now you know why the big clubs fans don't bother with England! You don't see their flags at the games, this is because they have success with their clubs so why would they bother being let down by that F'king bunch? I wonder when the lightening seeds wrote their song they'd be able to add another 20 years onto the 30 of hurt?
Daft as it my sound. Is Steve Evans available? We need someone who is going to kick arses and not brown nose the FA bigwigs. Defo not an insider like Neville or Southgate or a foreign Johnny on £££m a year. We need someone who is prepared to say that the top English premier league players just don't do it and go down to the Championship to get players who are 1. Going to care. 2. Put in a shift 3. Show some bottle. That shower of **** who wore the shirts last night didn't display any of the above. As for Hodgson get him on the next flight to the moon. For a England manager to have his resignation speech in his pocket, during the game, was a total disgrace.
I did say daft as it may seem.........My point is that we need someone in the Evans ilk...Who that is I don't know...But someone who recognises that the so called stars just don't have to turn up because despite the dropped heads and the crocodile tears they're were looking forward to their beach holidays more than facing France in the QF.
I like this I have seen on Twitter. We lost to a team with more Volcanoes than professional footballers
What exactly is the problem with, as you call them, 'Johnny Foreigner'? For me the perfect choice would be Jose Mourinho, but he wont take it. If we'd moved for him in the spring he might have done.
