No. McGregor from what we have. Jakupovic doesn't inspire confidence and Kuciak is still unproven. I'd put Jak as 3rd choice initially but I don't watch them training.

Surprised he was given a new contract .Maybe he is going to fill the Steve Harper at Newcastle role.

His confidence seems to have come on leaps and bounds. Think he's got the better build as a Gk than Greegsy too. But...

    Just seems like he's a number 2.

Maybe he could learn to catch the ball instead of punching -if his punches were headers , we'd be saying he's got a square head.

    Because everyone else said no.

Maybe we could give him a run of games and see how he goes. I can't think of a single error made last season and he played a number of games for us, with several outstanding displays.

He was third choice last time we were in the first tier and I got the impression that would be the plan next season.

Will have to see how Kuciak goes. No way of judging him yet, but he did look an impressive unit just from watching him during the half time kick abouts.

Jak has a higher ceiling than McGregor at this stage, as demonstrated in the cup against Arsenal. You can call it a one-off, career best game, but McGregor has never shown that ability in my opinion. McGregor may be more consistent, which is what you'd want against mid- to lower-PL clubs, but against the top clubs, Jak has the potential to keep us in games and earn us points McGregor couldn't. Kuciak is the unknown in all of this though.

Yes. I agree with Syd. He's hugely underrated (largely because he had one horrendous game against the Wendies years ago). Has had some brilliant games since in his few opportunities. Never let us down. Far better shot stopper than Greegsy who seems to misjudge/fumble long shots on a regular basis. More agile than McG. Don't like his habit of punching rather than catching balls into the box. But he deserves a run as our starting GK.

I like the Jak. I like his attitude and he really seams to give a ****.

I'm happy to have him at my club.

But if we're saying he's our number one in the premier league, then it's time to sign a new keeper.

I don't think a single person has said he's our clear number one.

The suggestion is merely to give him a run of games to see if he can come into his own.

I don't think we'll have that luxury. Every point will count, so it'll be the safe option of Greggsy.

I guess my point above was that he isn't the 'safe' option against the big clubs in the league. Jak has the potential to earn us points against them, Greggsy.. well.. go back and check out that Chelsea winner against us late in 14/15.

I'd agree that the Jak has the ability to do that.

But I'm saying I can't see Brucie would ever take the chance and pick him ahead of McGregor.

Of course not, because Bruce is spineless. He took a season and a half to grow the balls to drop Huddlestone, and even longer to try Maguire as a starting CB - who he was then amazed could actually play decently. He has no guts when it comes to selections and it's why our performances are distressingly predictable under him.
