I never thought I'd EVER say this, but this thread has got so bad I want @PISKIE and @Hoddle Is A God to derail it!

It's the one thread they haven't derailed on here, and it's the one that needed it the most <laugh>

It's the ultimate goal of some of them, not all. It's also something that the European public has demonstrated that they have little appetite for.

I have said many times That any move towards a federal Europe would see me change my view, and vote to leave. I think the same applies to Tobes and many other remain voters.

My other reason for voting remain at this time I have stated several times. The economy. Having just about dragged ourselves out of the worst recession since the war, we now will most likely go back into it. In the short to medium term business will suffer, and the longer term is a complete unknown. The currency will fly about like a balloon with the air let out of it - again not what business or investors want to see.

I have been through much of the other likely fallouts of all this many times. But, the pain has just begun.

In conclusion, it was my view that there was no compelling reason to vote to leave, far from it. We had a good arrangement with the EU. We weren't part of the single currency, etc. I believe it was a knee jerk reaction and one that the people of the UK will long regret.

How can you say that? You have no idea about the sampling methodology.

Boris was trying to gloss over it all last night by saying that pensions hadn't tanked yet. He then quickly made his getaway in a waiting car before journalists could ask him how that was the case when the pound had just hit a 31 year low and £6.7bn had just been wiped off of stocks.

@Hoddle Is A God has given this thread a wide berth because it doesn't involve pictures of Picard or fish.

I am a labour voter and I joined the party because I believed Corbyn was a breath of fresh air. Sad to say, he is a man of principles, but a leader he is not. I will hold the exit door open for him, and I don't think I am alone.

What's wrong with falling equity markets? That means you can buy assets cheaper. %age returns via dividends increase. If people are investing in the equity market they should be willing to do it for the long haul otherwise they are simply gambling.

As I understand it, that poll was done after people had voted, so they simply told the pollsters which way they voted and presumably filled out some info about their socio-economic background. I'd say that's fairly accurate and representative and nothing like polls that are conducted before elections where people are canvassed for their views, but often change their minds.

Boris spent a lot of time on student politics whereas Dave concentrated on studying.

Falling equity markets are a reflection of the perceived prospects of the constituent companies' future.

Dividends can only become payable when a certain level of profit has been made.

Falling equity markets affect pensions, which are mostly invested in those markets.

All in all, a falling domestic equity market - and the FTSE 250 which is basically the major UK companies, are a signal of future prospects. Those signals are that these prospects are not perceived to be good.
