Has anyone got the best out of him, other than Ferguson? I've never really thought of it like that before.
The entire England setup needs to walk. We need a new start. There are some good players in that team. Some very good players. Yes there were some poor overall performances and some individual errors at key moments but form the top down there is no identity, no theory on how we should play beyond making sure some key players are somewhere on the pitch and rolling the dice. We need a manager who is going to walk into the setup and declare that we will have 2, maybe 3 ways of playing to deal with different situations and we're just going to get really ****ing good at them, not try and shoehorn players into teams and squads because we feel they should be there for some reason. Get organised at the back and play at a good tempo with pace. Players need to take responsibility on the pitch and management need to take responsibility off it and be prepared to make harsh calls (see England rugby for an example of this turnaround - not the first time we'll hear that comparison over the coming weeks I bet).
I am sure they will be very pleased to get back to a properly organised team with a Manager who knows what what he wants and has some idea of how to get there.
So let me guess...Roy Hodgson can't pick a starting xi if he had the 1974 Dutch squad at his disposal, so England should leave UEFA?
It's alright, he'll just get Rooney to push the button, despite making him stand absolutely miles away from it.
So, no Spurs players injured long-term because of these England games ?? If not, rest well boys and be ready for pre-season.
Who's it going to be then...Southgate? Pardew? Allardyce? Sherwood? Howe? Warburton? Redknapp? Hod Squad II?
I will remember Rose apparently asking Ray Lewington where he wanted him to play, half way through the game
Your lot were a massive ****ing let down. You try so hard during the season, still end up third, but manage to break the English players before the tournament Kane should be particularly ashamed of himself.
Maybe Hodgson should've picked more Arsenal players? He could've had, erm... that, wait no, he's Welsh. Er...
Thought Rooney was worse, TBH. But, every one of them should hang there head in shame. And as for Woy!...
The bottom line is that England don't have good enough players. There were a few young players in the squad, who have emerged since the World Cup debacle, but England still play in the same disjointed, "lump it in and hope for the best" way. We continue to lack players with a good first touch, who are able to pass and move coherently and are clever enough to to find space and time or the bit of skill or class which gives the better teams the edge (for example Griezmann's timely intervention yesterday for France). Some of our players look good a club level because they have star players around them who provide that coherence or creavity, which enables them to shine. When you put the England players together in the same team their lack of real ability is painfully obvious - as has been shown tournament after tournament. We revert to trying to wear down the opposition by lumping the ball into the box as often as possible, but teams are wise to this now - and all the teams are very organised. Wales and Iceland are proof that good organisation and playing to a plan can compensate for lack of ability to some extent. Unfortunately, England lack organisation too. The players don't play to a plan, nobody seems to know what their roles are (how do Kane, Vardy, Sturridge, Rooney and Alli all fit together?) and the personnel changes so often that there is no understanding. A total shambles.
I thought Rooney looked good in the first half but in the second half he went to absolute ****, literally everything he did was terrible, lost his touch, poor passing, poor decision making, slowed the game down. The pressure got to him as the experienced player and it showed. Terrible second half performance from him. I thought Wilshere and Rashford are the only two players who can be happy with there contribution today, the rest of the team were just awful in every way possible.
