Rooney is having a complete mare. The Italians are supposed to have their worst team for 50 years. But with intelligence, total commitment, a plan which everyone understood and had the basic technique to deliver, and a passionate and demanding manager, they were outstanding today. Of course they also had a proper goalie. We knew exactly what we were facing today, a well organised team who defend well but don't have an excess of quality. We have no idea how to beat them. Completely witless. Even if we fluke a goal and an extra time or penalty (ha!) win it won't wipe out the memory of this shambles. And if Glenn Hoddle should ever be choking on a fish bone in my presence I'm afraid I don't know the heimlich procedure.
Most of these Iceland players would struggle to make it into a lower half Premier League team - just goes to show how a strong team ethic and belief goes a long way - regardless of what happens in the next 10 minutes, the pampered pri-madonnas in the England team need to take a long, hard look at themselves, and take a detour via Australia (or anywhere very very far away) before returning home - way to re-unite a broken nation - twats
Ominous stat........Lars Larderbak the Iceland joint coach has coached 6 Swedish sides against England and never lost.......
I heard mention that England have not won a match in the knockout stages of a major competition in 10 years. Can this be true? On the evidence of this evening, I'm surprised it's a recently as that.
