You cannot materially punish market traders for this kind of behaviour, whether future
events shows them to be vindicated in their actions or not.
    Volatility goes with the territory.

You don't, or don't want to understand how these things work. And, TBH, I'm very tired of explaining it to people who don't want to listen.

All I told you would happen days ago has happened. I try to tell you what I think will happen next, but as usual, you come back with a smart arse remark....

    And....that's why I give up!....

What's vague about saying they've been told there will be some redundancies in the small businesses they work for? That's all the context you need. Nobody there knows who and how many, but if you work there you're having sleepless nights. That's the point you seem to have missed when I say that rhetoric like "we'll struggle for a couple of years but we'll be ok in the long run." is no comfort for them. How hard is that to understand? And why the hell would I want (or need) to know the names of companies for ppl who've been made redundant in the last 12 months? Will that make their redundancies any more relevant or any less tragic? Very strange stuff you're banging on about fella.

Yep...saying they can all join the dole queue is not heartless at all is it. If you feel that me saying these ppl deserve to be given some reassurance about the here and now, makes me soppy, then you really are being obtuse.

You read a post, had a rant and since then realised that nothing I've posted is as you've described and continued to make yourself look more and more extreme. I have no Remain gripe to grind, it's where we go from here that matters. I've simply said that for some people, not some aliases on a footy forum, but real people with families, are going to lose their jobs and it's not enough to say "we'll struggle in the short term but it'll be worth it" because it's patronising bollox for these unfortunate ppl.

You haven't told us anything that most people weren't thinking or saying anyway. Since then, you've done nothing but point at the bleeding obvious, and tried to make out you're Nostradamus by showing us a FTSE level, yet at the same time, claiming it's others worrying about the markets that creates uncertainty that's the problem. Can you spot the chink in your argument?

All that's done at a time when a fair few people voted as they did because they're are tired of 'experts' telling is what to think, and why we think as we do, because they say we're too stupid to do it ourselves.

All I'm asking is that you share the benefit of your wisdom, which is seemingly greater than that of the likes of Mervyn King.

I don't think I was unreasonable in asking the question and elaborating on my views, but I think people will draw their own conclusions on why you give up.

Who says they need to be punished? The market traders are to an extent reacting to markets that are to a degree capable of being influenced by others. Limiting that influence takes it out of the hands of the reactionaries, limiting the extent of that reaction protects them and us.

What's your view on the 1,000's that lost their jobs in industries destroyed by the EU?

I quite liked Cameron. It's a shame he's going before his time should have been up.

He comes from a similar background to Boris but didn't come across as a pompous, fairly clueless toff like Boris.

Apparently Boris has a chip on his shoulder about Cameron as Boris got a 2:1 at Oxford compared to Cameron's first in what was considered the harder degree subject. I imagine in their social circles Boris is constantly reminded of that fact!

That really is the crux of it. If the young had actually gotten off their lazy arses and voted, we'd still be a part of the EU today. I know a couple early 20's guys who were of the opinion "we should stay in the EU" but "we can't be bothered to vote." Obviously being of the generation of "someone else will sort it out, i'll just play another game of modern warfare.."

Are you saying there is some shadowy figure in the background, telling market traders
when to start the ball rolling in order to get the market sheep to follow suit ??

Based on the GBP = USD1,50 debacle on thursday night, I very much doubt it. :)

Not so much a shadowy figure, but there are multinationals that have brought about financial changes and crashes for their own ends for long enough. Mayer Amschel Bauer manipulated markets and the media way back in the 1700's, before he became Rothschild.
