FLT back on happy clapper watch :police: he's not even managed an end of season break with the Koeman and Wanyama phases.

It would help if we got the replacements in shortly after selling or even before. It always feels like everyone is leaving but no one is coming in. I know Redmond is in but he's not a Mane replacement in my view. More like a replacement for Juanmi or what we though Juanmi would bring. By the way I'm not panicking I just want some positive news.

Nobody is throwing toys out of pram. Fans are entitled to be unhappy at best players being sold. Were not exactly going to say "great manes gone" are we? It would be different if replacements were coming in but for fans who know nothing it is an uncertain period.

Also we were not told mane was going, we were fed a recent article giving us hope that Koeman and mane were staying. Think the issue with mane was 2 years left on contract.

Cheer up mate. You could be the moderator on the Liverpool Forum (redandwhitekop) who locked their Mane thread overnight. They only opened it again on condition no negative comments about the transfer are permitted if they refer to Saints, transfer committees or (I kid you not) his fee!

That's a hell of a balanced discussion among our 'famous for their cheeky humour' Liverpool chums then.

Mane will go for a big fee was said by a few ITK's for months now. Saints even said £31m would get him ( through the press)

Either that or hope one of the youngsters comes good. I thought Gallagher looked strong toward the end of the season whilst Seager and McQueen were getting closer

To my mind, the fact that we have become so good at buying good players and turning them into excellent ones before they move on to huge clubs is not a bad thing. We've become a very desirable landing spot for very good young players and some of our best are even commiting themselves to very long term contracts despite the promise of big money elsewhere. Shock horror.

People bring up Shaw, Lallana and Alderweireld, but are we not happy with Bertrand, Tadic and VVD? We continue to grow and develop and I absolutely trust the board that they know in what direction to take the club. The list of clubs who have failed by throwing money at transfers and contracts is much longer than the number of well run clubs with world class facilities and who make good decisions regularly and with the good of the collective in mind.

Mane is going and I'm dissapointed as he was a game changer. Still no reason we can't emerge from this summer in a state of real health. COYS

So a club comes in for VVD, Forster, etc. Do Saints sell if the price is right?
    Just a thought!

At the beginning of last season, Reed received a question at the Radio Solent Fans Forum which was prefaced with the request not to sell our best players, like Mane, but if they must go then to tell people to bugger off unless £40M is being offered minimum. To which Reed replied, or £50M.

So what happened.? Mane got even better, so how come his value diminished in a League where more money is washing around. It's an astonishing position where Saints are a feeder club to another which finishes further down the league.

If Saints' aim is to increase their popularity, reputation and ambition, then this is a funny way to be going about it, in my opinion.

It depends on the offer, player behaviour etc. Club is in a far better position if the player in question has 4 years left to run on his contract.

And a good thought. More importantly, what will we do if the world ends tomorrow?

Much as I love Long, and much as QPR fans seem to have loved the slmost permanently injure Austin, that really wouldn't be a good idea. I'm sure we'll be getting someone in.

As I said, Mane told the club he would not sign a new contract and wanted to leave. That is what changed.

Some Saints supporters need to realise:
    We aren't a big club.
We don't have a big history.
    We won't give huge wages.
We aren't a club in a big city.

All those are big factors on where a player wants to play. It is a simple fact we offer none of those, so players will want to move on. As soon as some supporters accept that players will go and we can do nothing about it (except getting the biggest fee possible) the better. It would mean we don't have the same meltdown over and over again.

If the board had said we aren't selling for less than £31m then the offers would have been £20m. I know the art of bartering has disappeared in this country but the price you see on most items in independent shops can be bartered and they aren't putting a lower price on.

If I list something on ebay that I want £30 for I will list it at £40 or best offer. Most of the time it will sell for £35 so I get above what my minimum is. I would not list it as £30 and strange as it may sound to many it is more likely to sell with that higher price and a best offer option than it is with a fixed lower amount.
