The 'City' - I've put it in invented commas as most of the big players are out at Canary wharf nowadays, is a slightly more sophisticated casino!..

The Stock market falling cannot be blamed on the EU referendum.
Nothing has changed since last week.
Like I said, we are still in the EU for two more years at least. So this is just idiot investors trying to make Brexit look catastrophic.
It will pass in a couple months, tops.

It's a direct result of the EU referendum. It brings uncertainty, which markets hate. As I've already said, this chaotic volatility will prevail until it becomes clear what the UK's future relationship with the EU will be.

    I'm voting for Bodanki. <ok>

He's said what I was going to far better than I could have done.

As for 'tanking', the market rose just before the vote, which exaggerates the drop. We're still above February levels.

Keep your animals fed Noah, the flood's not here just yet.

It's one hell of a coincidence then!

That's a bit of a "no tanks on the streets of Baghdad" comment Bodanki.

Exactly. 'Nothing has changed since last week?' Apart from Sterling tanking more than 10% against both dollar and euro, and global stock markets in turmoil

Not to mention the PM resigning. The leader of the opposition being ousted.

Apart from all that, nothing has changed at all!....

I ain't predicted anything...if you want to criticise me at least do it on what I have said.
The idea that I want things to go to **** is plainly stupid...why would I want my family, friends and millions of others to suffer?
People need reassurance not silence imo.
You seem intent to have a pointless row with some on here by lumping them in with others.
I ain't a sore losers mate. Being of a different opinion don't make me one.

The "markets" do love an opportunity, don't they.

Whatever the result of the referendum, there was an opportunity for money to
be made for themselves. And for 2 hrs after the polls closed, you were treated to the
sight of them thinking the opportunity was in BOTH outcomes. :)

If you want to know what The City is about, this sums it up perfectly.

HAHA I am not saying its not connected.
What I am saying is that investors are causing the stock market to fall on purpose to make Brexit look worse than it is.

    Its nothing else.
We are still in the EU, just as we were last week, so how else do you account for it?
We haven't even handed in our EU resignation yet (Article 50).
So the stock market falling "because we have left the EU" is bollocks, because we haven't.....yet.

And your point still doesn't stand. A mild recession was inevitable, whatever exit plans the UK had come up with.

The 250 is more relevant than the 100 Custard. The 100 has a lot of multinational companies that will be considered safer havens in volatile times. The 250 is largely British companies and it's a bloodbath on there at the minute.

That said, I do think the UK exiting the EU is probably even worse news for the EU than it is for the UK but with no plan in place it's certainly bad news for the UK as well!

I've just read the last 20 pages (time I'll never get back you ****s)....

It seems this is turning into a 'my dicks bigger than yours', 'we won you lost', 'I told you so, you're wrong'

It's almost like people that voted remain (I did btw) are now hoping we **** everything up <doh>

I get people are frustrated and I feel the same. But we're all seriously going to sit here and argue about it?

Good luck, and good day <ok>

Not in the financial press or on the financial channels. The 250 crashing has received a lot of coverage.

I guess people know more about the 100 and the companies in it so it gets more popular press air time.
