I still don't see what my post has got to do with despicable racist attacks - or are you just painting everyone with the same brush again?
I don't know what evidence you have for my painting everybody the same brush. I am aware of a very fine line between humour and abuse of others... and at this time of tension do not find your contribution at all amusing..... Additionally I have come across many people who use jokes to subtly scapegoat minorities perhaps without realising it. Difficult times to be a non-white or migrant resident in some parts of the UK at the mo,
So how was the "thought" of the person in my post racist? Did that person make any racist joke? did that person attack the couple because they were foreign?, in fact where did it state they were of a different race? Where was there any scapegoating of a minority?
Just as a reminder, look at the second word of the title of this thread. However, I think it is a matter of context - if the Scottish referendum had gone the other way, this could easily have been applied to an English/Welsh/Northern Irish couple in a supermarket in Scotland and I doubt if any of us would've considered that racist.
Well put Barry... I just think we need to be a little reflective at this time. as people have been abused and some attacked over the last few days...
