AS someone said to you earlier but you choose to block it out, you and I don't know how the negotiations went. No idea. All you are doing is choosing to see the negative side. Mane could have had his agent in for all we know, saying that his player won't be in the right frame of mind to play well (not nice, not professional, but it could have happened - we don't know) and the board may have pushed back other bids from Liverpool.

WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAS GONE ON.

Happier with the fee of 34/36 million. Although it may seem that £4m is irrelevant, it's also the fact that we should be the ones dictating these procedures. We need to make clubs know that the ball is in our court and that they'll pay what we ask or they want get their man. Obviously different for Wanyama as he was in his final year.

    There's the answer! Let's sign Bradford's team!

I know, I know, I am being an arse, but come on chaps as DTLW points out above, Bradford got to a cup final and they don't have jack **** in their squad. It is about the performance of the players and the selection of the managers on the day.

Then they shouldn't have told us it was the club's ambition to reach the Champions League. The board have made their bed. Now they've got to lie in it.

The last few pages are all about the club or the board ...

... is nobody going to blame Mane?

Is there any realism on here at all? Do people really think Liverpool made a phone call to enquire (blind) and Les said that he would have a chat with Mane to see if he fancied it? No, of course not.

Liverpool, Mane/his agent have had a chat, done a deal and promised him streets paved with gold. They have then gone to Les who has done his best for our club, sat with a player who has decided he wants to leave and a club trying it on with a fee. What has he got? He has only gone and got the biggest transfer fee this club has ever received.

What would those unhappy people want him to do, take £35m and move on, or risk having a player who doesn't put his heart into it for the season? Yes, Morgan knuckled down and got on with it - not everyone does.

Not what the fans, the new manager, Les or the club probably wanted, but a very clean, good way to come out of it with a good position. Move on.

Every time a Neggie slags off Les, he will find another way to annoy them, perhaps if they were nicer about him he might do something better for them?

Yes, of course. That's what happens sometimes. Tom says we haven't got to a cup final because we sell our best players. Well, I'd blame Poch at Sunderland and the shambolic display against Liverpool for that more!

    Good points Fats.

For all we know, they may be paying this all up front, in which case the selling club may chose to accept a slightly lower amount.

If it were say £40m, that may be paid over 8 years and the revenue schedules may only give us £10m now, £2m next year and so on *usually the balance is paid up by the end of the intial contract the player signs.

My view is for £34m we have to sell. Mane is good but he is not that level of player atm.

Could he get to that level and above? From tomorrow I wont really give a **** one way or they other.

Id rather be invovled with a particularly well run, ethical club than be owned by someone throwing money around (the latter not being sustainable). Everton sound like this is their model but football is different from when Abramovic started this 10 years ago and different again from when Man City did it...

Fully agree that we know nothing of the inner workings of the board, added to that they have served us surerbly well in recent years. But it has to be said that the Premier league is awash with dosh and £30M does seem low for a quality player like Mane?
Bet we will see crazy transfer money changing changing hands in coming weeks?

Mane will be a big loss for sure. He was entertaining and exciting but.... ....never really felt he was a classic Saints player. Always (and openly) used us as a stepping stone. #34m is great value for us. And any player who chooses to give up European football for a big bucks salary is frankly not worth missing.

Hang on - do you want a cup final or champions league? (I know you want both, because it seems there is an "I want" culture here, but humour me - give me an answer)..

The club want Champions League. Right. What have they done that has let you down on that promise?

True, but every club sells players at some points. This logic would result in stalemate.

Poch did **** the cup at Sunderland and we had a great chance (from memory we went 1 up from that no mark, hot and cold player that we are trying to get rid of to the one and only highest bidder <whistle>) against Pool.

Seriously, all this crap about selling to the highest bidder - why do we need to when that bidder is Liverpool :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Not getting in it and then selling players that makes it harder to get in it.

Even though I agree with your other points Billy, this is the bit I like best of all.

I am beginning to think that some of our fans would be happier if we were just purchased by some mega wealthy person, who unlike Kat, wants to use us as a play thing, pump **** loads of money in to buy success. Hey, if that happens, I will feel odd but I'll take the days out at Wembley. Right now though, I am very happy with Kat, Les, Ralph et al and the way they do things.

May none of these fans moan at "Chelski" or City and their billions.

Yeah Mane will get blamed as well. No doubt he will be booed by some. He obviously will get a nice pay rise and has been swallowed the Liverpool Way which has them challenging for Champs League. They've probably sold the fact they won't have Europe so can focus on the league like Leicester did. They've got some bang-average players though who I wouldn't want anywhere near our team anyway.
