Sven didnt really pull out of County - the whole thing was a sham and a scam. County fans speak highly of Sven and what he did. I also believe that he left without taking money that was due to him.

Rumour is Joey Barton has been released from Newcastle, I think Sven might be interested as all he seems to want is midfielders. Maybe cancel the Fernandes deal if we could get Barton. I dont think he will come and I reckon he will end up at someone like Liverpool or Everton

You have no chance in getting Barton, he is still a top premiership player, most of the players you have signed are top CC/Bottom Premiership.

You are just getting silly now, i read on your board that you are linked with David Beckham.

Just out of interest whats happened/happening to last years team?

Assuming Leciester continue to buy on top of the 15 odd they have already bought, and guesing you retained a minimum of 15 you must have a huge squad of proffesionals now.

Anyone that has done a good job thats just been replaced available?

I am thinking center backs, left backs, or footballing midfielders?

Not really. The reason we've bought so many players is not because we can, it's because we had to. Even if we were not realistically aiming for the top 2, we'd have needed at least 7 or 8 new players, mainly because of the amount of loans last season, and what was left over was largely not good enough for this league (Sousa left our squad in a right mess in truth).

The only player I can think of that you might want is Bruno Berner, he's a big favourite here, but even he's ageing and is not as consistent as he was because of it. There was talk of him getting a coaching role here but we've not heard anything recently.

Out of last years team we've only really got Andy King, Richie Wellens, Paul Gallagher, Darius Vassell (though I expect him to be used as a sub if we get another striker in), Yuki Abe (who I don't see as a starter myself) and Sol Bamba that are in the running for a starting place.

We've got other players like Steve Howard and obviously Waghorn who played last season - but it's more likely they'll leave than play a big part.

I am losing track myself of the signings a little now, but I think it's 10 so far Lummie.

The majority of these are to replace the loans from last year to be honest; any players who did well last season are still in the squad.

We have zero spare CBs, we only have just enough for our own squad in four and two right backs. Possibly Berner may be available at left back, but I think he is looking to stay with the club and progress in to coaching when the opportunity arises.

Erm midfield, I don't think Oakley will be playing much and Moussa is a decent midfielder who will probably be available.

Our sqaud will be around 23/24 players once all transfer activity (in/out) has finished at the end of August.

PS - as this thread was initially about bringing in a striker - just heard on 'listen again' from the moan-in, that only 4 of the last 18 teans to be promoted from the championship had a striker who scored 20+ goals.

That being the case or not, I think it's very obvious that this team needs another striker. It's all relative, not every team needs a 20+ goal striker to get them promoted, but I feel our team does need a better quality goalscorer.

We need a striker who will score goals, when teams have got promoted most teams have a player who get 15-20. We have players like King, Gallagher, Nugent and Danns who are all capable of getting double figures but we need someone who is going to push on and score a few more

That really depends how many you let in, concead none and you will win the league with a about 30 goals through the whole team.

It doesnt really matter where the goals come from as long as they add up to more than the other teams in enough of the games.

Nick Maynard is the type of player who can nick you a goal away from home, (very important)

    Shame you'll never see it.

What you fail to grasp out of all of this debacle is that even with Maynard you still have no chance of promotion which says quite a lot really!

Oh yeh I forgot we've never scored an away goal <doh>

Swansea had a terrific defence 2 seasons ago but still failed to make the play-offs because of lack of goals. Whilst I think we have more firepower than they did, I don't think we've quite enough for the top 2 yet.

Not his main targets proud! Sven even mentioned big 20+ strikers? Nugent isn't that.
