I'm I neither annoyed or shocked by the fact another key player is leaving. What has upset me is the way we've been rolled over. Why aren't we being more difficult, SM is an exceptional talent & has two years left on his contract. If we knocked back 30, they would come again, no doubt about it. All this transfer does is dump future pressure on us to do deals.

 

Up to £36M does sound better, so you can read my last post with slightly less volume!

 

I hope the board have a placement lined up already, but as you say £36m for a player we paid £10m 21 months is a great price.

 

I'd be annoyed if we sign two replacements at £10m each, and keep the change, a la Romeu/Clasie for Schneids.

Although Mane only cost £10m so who knows.

 

I thought that was good business considering Schneiderlin was a very difficult player to try and replace. Romeu particularly has impressed me, and Clasie will get better.

 

But neither are near Schneiderlin's level, that's the point. I will be worried if we swap our best player for 2 good players every year. But I'll trust the board.

 

Our method of doing things is a long term plan...it may not work every year, but you don't abandon a system that is working should we have one disappointing season. Hopefully, that isn't this season.....could be an exciting one for us. And we should give our new manager time whoever it is.

Well I'm surprised it took until 27th June for the annual meltdown!

I'm a reasonably positive person - no point in being down in life all the time over things you can't control. Who once said control the controlables?!

As fans we have NO say over who we sign and who he manager will be. We only have wishes and opinions. They are all valid as opinions. No one is right and no one is wrong if it is their opinion. It's what makes the world go round.

My opinion is that as someone else said I know bugger all about running a football club. Ask me to design and implement a remote access Citrix solution for 30000 people over two continents and I can help AND its more than an opinion. It's based on knowledge, experience and fact. When it comes to a football club, it's an opinion but there are too many unknowns for it to be totally fact.

What I do know is I trust those that have been doing it for the last 7 years to get it right or nearly right. If they don't I trust them to make it right.

The more we keep our best players, the greater the chance we push up the league, the more we'll concentrate on the league and the less likely we'll reach a cup final.

By your logic, Hull, Palace and Villa had better players than us in their cup teams.

 

Bradford City got to a cup final in the last five years. We can do it, we just haven't been good enough when it mattered.

We lost 6-1 to Liverpool then went and beat them 3-2 from two goals down with 26 minutes to play. Only ourselves to blame.

 

Black, of course I wonder and wish, however I am also pragmatic about it. I know who I support, what we are and what we are up against. I know where we've been recently and I know what happens in football. Believe me when I say I don't want Mane to go, but I just don't get into a whiney, negative spin about it. I accept it and move on. I can lay no blame at the club for this. They have told us (7 years ago) how this club would be run and it fits with where we sit in terms of size, etc. and I am perfectly in line with that and think it is good and right.

I don't support Man Utd, City or whoever, I support Southampton. We are achieving great things and all within the way the natural way the rest of football works against us.

For every example you give, there is a flip side or another what if that we couldn't control. We just don't know.

I want a lot of things in life, but life isn't always like that. I happen to find it pretty fruitless to be so negative. Bottom line: seems like I'll enjoy Saints more than a lot of you and I find that a shame for you guys.

 

I never do know what I am writing - but I keep plugging away!!

 

To clarify that for those that aren't happy, I am sure like me you are thinking, "Good price, shame he has to go, but at least we are getting a good price"
