I have no idea, I just don't think it was as simple as:

    "Yo Liverpool here"
"Yeah I recognised your number, seems familiar"
    "We like Mane, how much?"
    "£40m"
    "nah £30m"
"ok, you drive a hard bargain, we will say we wanted £40m though to keep everyone cool"
    "see you next summer"

So lets assume Mané does go, who do we look at to replace him? Lets say we're willing to spend £20m of the reported fee if he does go to the bindippers - anybody got any ideas cos frankly I'm not bothered by any number of sales (within reason) and love a new player signing just as much as keeping a good player.

There must still be gold in the seam Saints have been mining for the last few years so I'm just going to trust the board to sell those players they have to for good prices, and buy wisely as they have been doing all along (I'm wearing my happy clapper t-shirt and sandles of course).

Exciting summer as ever for Saints fans, no manager yet, Crown jewels being sold off, and a semi meltdown on the way - it's the best soap opera in the country and I love it <cheers>

I'm sorry, but if the right offer comes in, then he goes. It really is that simple.
The real question is.......will the offer make an appearance?
    Hopefully not.
Lets not just make daft statements like, 'We won't sell him.'

What I don't understand is why is only ever us this happens to? West ham, stoke, leicester etc all good seasons and they manage to keep hold of their "star" players.

Assuming Mane is going, the board have got a lot of things to get right. His replacement, Vic's replacement and the new manager. Still yet to be convinced Puel will do a good job here and Mane will be difficult to replace. Eventually the board will make a decision that goes tit up, got a feeling it will be this season coming.

Spend £20m (ish) on bringing Chamberlain back, and we'll have singed him and Redmond for the same amount as we received for Mane.

As I've said for a while, Chambo has experienced CL football and playing for a big club now etc. So he's much less likely to be tempted away in a year or two. And, in my view at least, he is easily good enough to walk into our first XI. Wages could be an issue though.

West Ham pay a ****load in wages. Leicester won the league. Stoke don't do as well as us therefore their players aren't as attractive. Although Shaqiri will probably leave at some point.

West Ham: have a better history. Are in London and pay far better wages. They also buy that are at the age were most clubs think they are in their prime. Where as we buy young talent that can improve.

Stoke: What amazing players do they have? They are more of a well drilled team that grind out results.

Leicester: won the league... But will eventually lose Mahrez and Kante.

We dealt with 2014 in the best way possible. We got maximum monies for players who had already emotionally left us. Last summer we held firm, and just about got what we could. This summer, well I'll wait till the exact fee is announced but I'm thinking most of us will be disappointed.

    West Ham

Always spend more than us, and will continue to because of the Olympic Stadium, but are still yet to finish above us.

Also, more attractive to foreign players who crave the London lifestyle. And trust me, they do.

    Stoke City

Pay more than us, finish below us and lose to us. Cédric and Redmond both chose us over Stoke.

    Leicester City

Just won the title, can offer UCL group stage football (for one season minimum) and can now pay £100k+ in wages.

    There ye go!
