Trust me, I'm not panicking. Economic chaos suits me, I'm just not selfish enough to vote purely in Sir Stan's interests.

I'm seriously considering giving up my knighthood.

Slimy toad. He's like the bloke in that film The Mummy, who at the end is buried alive trying to corner all the pharoah's gold. He's history.

I should imagine there are a lot of conversations going on behind closed doors at the moment and we will start to hear more when the politicians themselves are more clear on how we move forward. We could well be seeing leadership elections for both key parties and there is a lot of fragmentation amongst everyone in our government at the moment and I think they will want to have further figured out how there own parties are going to move forward and how the government are going to move forward in general (if a GE will be called etc) before coming out with anything too decisive.

I agree they will need to pull there finger out and permeate confidence in our future.

Actually that reminds me. I'm happy to admit I got it completely wrong about Corbyn. I was one of those that thought he was trying to redress the balance within the Labour party and that he had the courage of his convictions to work for the common man. Turns out he had no convictions!! Another waster at the top.

Why is it that we lose all the best politicians, those with some modicum of integrity and instead end up with a bunch of scheisters?
Mo Mowlan, John Smith, Jo Cox, David Davis and to some extent David Milliband. All gone. And we get ****ing Tony Blair, David Cameron, Boris Johnson, Jermey Corbyn and Nick ****ing Clegg instead <doh>

You haven't missed the point. You just don't understand it.
At worst the UK is number 4 in the queue for all nations to trade with. #4 is not the back.
For other countries that the UK wish to have trade terms with (India etc) , they may be nearer to the
    front than #4.

"Again also, you seem to be simply using a rationale that because it's not happened yet, it won't ever happen."

    P(E) + P(NOT E) = 1.
If E is the apocalypse you lot are claiming, then as per the Tetlock test, what probability are
you offering for E, and how many months from now are you saying E will have occurred by ??

Regardless, we will be behind the EU. We have just volunteered ourselves to be behind in the queue where we were once at the front.

Regarding your equation, I don't think it will be an 'apocalypse' and it's happening already, see the earlier article from the FT about US and UK banks moving their operations out of the UK and into Europe.

Just caught Question Time, what a waste of half an hour.

The audience made it clear it's not about immigration, and Scotland can wait as unity is paramount, so what does Dimbleby do?

Has a panel set up into remain and leave, even though all were agreed that argument's done, gave very little time to the leave spokespeople and lets Dianne Abbot and Alex Salmon blether on and on about immigration and Scotland.

If it's a queue system and only one negotiation is going on at a time then obviously the EU is busy with the US and we will have the rest of the world to work on ;)

Or maybe the framework for multiple deals will be worked on at the same time by different people within the same countries and it's just about which ones are taking general priority and not actually a literal queue which we will have to wait ages to begin negotiations with...

    @afcftw

You're one of the few Leavers who clearly made a considered decision when you voted and I respect your opinion and comments.

If I introduced you to the guy I mentioned in the above quoted post, what would you say to him to reassure him that the country will be better off post Brexit?

I'm still waiting for Custard to tell me what benefit the UK has secured for gaining access to the single market, given that we have to pay to access it, accept the EU's terms on immigration and that we don't have any say on making the rules anymore.

I went to Tesco's earlier, and was in the queue behind a foreign family. When I heard the cashier ask them if they wanted any help with their packing, I thought **** me, this is happening quicker than I expected.

The EU is NEVER at the front. That is the USA. And then/or China. EU then Japan.
And some markets (India etc) , the EU isn't really IN the queue.

"Regarding your equation, I don't think it will be an 'apocalypse' and it's happening already, see the earlier article from the FT about US and UK banks moving their operations out of the UK and into Europe."

I am seeing a knee-jerk reaction from the financial sector based on an inability to even VAGUELY quantify
the likelihood of certain events coming to pass. Just like the "credit crunch" being caused by mass withdrawal
of credit from the markets when these morons could not even vague quantify the total % of their
CDO holdings that were actually directly linked to the USA sub-prime mortgage market.

Their credibility went up in flames on the last "bonfire of the vanities" .
