Complained to both the BBC and ofcom

This program is an utter joke and is basically racist not just to Newcastle but to the North East, by giving a false impressiion that the region is nothing but a mass of unemployed thiefs!! The programme has been filmed in a way to show Newcastle as a run down derelict area, making out that most people are unemployed and it is unsafe for people to walk around the streets in designer clothes. Every city has there rough area's but filming them coming out of the Central Station then cutting to a rough area of Walker is just wrong. Also telling them to 'Remove their jewlery, for their saftey'. I'm from Nottingham but have lived in Newcastle for 15 years and never once seen and trouble. I find this programme highly offence about where I live, I could make a better programme showing the true light of the North East and what it's like. I'm sick of programmes like this and Geordie Shores making everyone one in the North East to be a bunch of drunken knuckle draggers. .

Glad I didn't see this ****, sounded terrible. That Guardian report is terrible as well, what the **** was he thinking? Besides slagging off Newcastle by attempting to compare it to the poverty of famine/drought/war ravaged parts of Africa, he also insults the many proud and less poverty stricken areas of Africa by lumping the entire continent into the same analogy. Total idiot.

 

They were acting like there is only crime up North...which is obviously true...obviously

 

Did anyone see the part when they filmed through 'Newcastle City Centre'?


Basically the camera drove down Pilgrim Street and shot the small row of empty, boarded up buildings.

The same ones opposite rather nice bars Popolo and Alvino's and probably the only row of buildings in the entire city yet to be renovated.



Did anyone else also notice the taxi driver seemingly took them through Walker High Street and Elswick on their way somewhere?


Must have been some taxi fare.

But problem with the program isn't that they focus on the deprived areas. It is that they created a false image of the North East. It is the little bits like the "steal your rings and fingers", having to wear tracksuits to "fit in", cutting from the attractive train station to Walker.

The Newcastle they showed doesn't exist...
