In the City we always knew that one of two things was usually in control of the markets. Fear or greed. One or the other would hold sway much of the time.

In my view, the general public operate under the same conditions. When they're feeling confident about their future. Their Job seems secure, house prices are rising, etc, they become more expansive. They spend more, they borrow more, go out more, etc.

Conversely, when uncertainty or fear reign. The public rein themselves in. The don't spend, don't borrow, stay at home or have a takeaway, etc. Over any reasonable period of time, the economy starts to contract, and then shrink.

I fear that's what's coming to the UK soon!....

Yup. Confidence is key to the economy

As soon as consumer confidence is dented, then GDP contracts, I would suggest that at least half the population are now somewhat concerned about the economic future, and to some extent it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy

The uncertainty primarily effects the UK, it's us who will be taking the pain, not the rest of the EU

    Out of interest.

Say new PM come is and is riding on a high in the polls, he/she cant call a GE because Cameron changed it to every 5 years, or was that just a one off for the hung Parliament?

Fixed term parliament. It can be overridden if 2/3 of MPs in the house of commons call for a vote of no confidence in the Govt.

So no GE then, why would Labour risk that if they are struggling in the polls

If you think that the economic pain of this decision is not going to be borne by the UK, then you're beyond deluded.

Also interesting that despite the media claiming that Labour voters (due to Corbyn not campaigning effectively) voted out. 67% of them actually voted to Remain.

It just shows how many of the lesser educated youth are completely disengaged from politics.

The poll was created by canvassing 12,369 voters in order to capture a representative view.

Lots of polls were done with many voters and that was still wrong, but I guess its not a million miles away
