Farage has no problem with immigrants working here. It's the unnecessary flooding of the lower labour market he doesn't like, hence the Australian style points system he has banged on about for years!
Is the idea that cheap labour is sending money home to their families? That makes sense, otherwise don't they have the same cost of living as a British person? Rent/food etc
I don't get the point in waiting, can they not just get it over and done with, dragging out the departure can't be good for anyone surely
I don't really care if it's good for the EU now we are going. We have to arrange the best deal available for the UK regarding every aspect of where we were three days ago, and where we are now. Trade talks take time.
I think the argument for a second referendum is silly - democracy has spoken. I'm more worried about the petition in having faith In Corbyn. The dinosaur has to go - otherwise I think we're looking at a longer exile than the predicted 2022.
I tell you, on the upside of voting for Brexit, what Farage thinks is now it irrelevant. As this was their aim, UKIP will become a defunct party. They [...those twats] have no use to Great Britain. The same as these other extreme right wing arseholes... Time for the rise of true libertarianism and democracy is upon us. Let us now close the House of Lords and adopt proportional representation voting system.
I had an interesting chat with a Labour MP over a cigarette two weeks ago. North West MP with a safe seat. She had just returned from a weekend on the doorstep campaigning for Remain in her seat, and said that she had been met repeatedly with either "I am Out" or "f*ck off" from her electorate. In her words "I am ashamed to represent these people". I didn't comment, but thought to myself 'not so ashamed that you will turn in your six figure salary package as their MP'. There is the disconnect for you...
You are better than that Ken That is a caricature, and complete nonsense. Nigel Farage has repeatedly said that he wants more high skilled immigration from the Commonwealth- the last time I checked places like India and Africa were not full of white people. What has Eton got to do with it? Nigel Farage exists because people like John Major and Tony Blair created a problem. They never sought the consent of the British people at the ballot box to change the face of their communities. It has nothing to go with globalisation. Read Antony Seldon's sourced book - Blair deliberately encouraged immigration "because he wanted to rub the Right's noses in it with diversity" Immigration was increased by stealth through the back door via the Amsterdam and then Lisbon Treaties - the latter being famously signed by Gordon Brown in the middle of the night on his own, because he didn't want to draw attention to it. There is a bit of an irony here that you are lecturing those of us who live in England about the benefits of diversity and immigration, when you reside in Spain
http://m.huffpost.com/uk/entry/uk_576ebc03e4b0d2571149bdd8 Reading comments from politicians like this bloke makes me angry. Think that they need to look up the definition of democracy. Then again when you are being told what to do by unelected individual, it's not surprising that you get people like this.
Okay Royston. As I said, I kept clear of this debate as I don't live over there, and for me it's more an economic question about stay or go anyway. Very hard to argue with anyone anout Blair, who I regard as a war criminal who should be behind bars. I wan't intending to lecture anyone, just put my point of view across, so sorry if I appwared sanctimonious. However, there has been a lot of immigration into Spain. The Spanish basicallt cured it by trashing their economy. There are still vast quantities of Chinese working on what is left of construction, which I am happy to be out of now, plus assorted Poles and Romanians who are clinging on along with the rest of the countrycountry, plus Moroccans who are now integrated. The rest are back where they came from. My point is there has been immigration everywhere. I can remember my granmother back in the seventies about 'darkies' while rest of the family shook their heads about her. Immigration generally balances over time. I believe I said (or hope I did) a few posts back that there were definate reasons for leaving. Unlimited immigration helps no one. But some of what Farage has come out with during the campaign has been nasty. I have never criticised anyone for taking the opposing position from me, and despite the fact that I am unhappy with the decision I won't be signing anything for a second vote. But you won't change my views on Farage or Boris, anymore than I would expect you to.
'We only want democracy when it's on our terms,' chant the youngsters camped outside Westminster. 'The old people, who are going to die soon' should not be deciding our future.' And these smarmy little runts are supposed to be the brains of tomorrow. MPs such as Corbyn, Thornberry, Abbot et al still don't get it. They continue to focus on the wellbeing of immigrants, yet it was this self-satisfying nonsense that saw masses of the electorate turn away. They'll never learn. Twats.
It's sad that we've turned on our older generation as we didn't get the desired result. Its 'our' future, but they've done hell of a lot more than 'us' to deserve the right to vote. I also think it's silly for the Brexit camp to declare 'victory'. 20-30 years from now will tell us if it is indeed that.
Out of all of the age groups that voted, the youngsters were the least represented, in terms of them actually voting. Surely if the result hasn't gone the way they wanted, then to some degree its there own fault?
The basic annual salary for an MP from 1 April 2016 is £74,962. MPs also receive expenses to cover the costs of running an office, employing staff, having somewhere to live in London and in their constituency, and travelling between Parliament and their constituency. - The key phrase on the expenses is "cover the costs". Basic is about the same of a Championship footballers. I may be in the minority but I believe most MP's are there because they believe they can benefit the electorate, although clearly many think they are in it for the money.
The younger age groups have turned out poorly in most democratic votes in recent times. Stems back to Cameron's first reign - so, as you say, some of the blame lies with them.
30 years experience of working with them tells me that 90% of MPS from all Partys are in in for the right reasons - public service. The package is over £100,000 after expenses and subsidies - 25% of MPs also employ members of their families on the staff.
Corbyn wants to run the country, yet he can't even run his own household. Have you seen the shambolic state of his front garden? And those net curtains! The odious nerk.
