I thought having Adele as a headline act said a lot about what Glastonbury has become and about music in general. No doubt she's got a great voice but the songs are a bit formulaic and just not interesting (at least to me)! She'll become one of the great divas along with the likes of Shirley Bassey, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston etc, nothing wrong with that but I always had Glastonbury down as somewhere a little less mainstream.

I'm judging them on the quality of their albums. Their best work is from the 80s. Never suggested I saw them in the 80s anywhere. I have seen them live however, though it was last year. Problem?
She's certainly shed some timber the lass. That combination of maungy melancholy fat lass self-pity with between song potty mouth banter is not a winning formula- unless you are one yourself of course.
Just a joke, Quill. I do enjoy your superior knowledge of bands, their music and their abilities over those who were actually there in the 60s, 70s and 80s. A pity there isn't a time machine. You would have a shock if you went back and heard what people were actually listening to back in the 60s etc. These mod revival nights bear no relation. I could introduce you to the only person I knew who liked the Doors. Bumped into him on Thursday at the polling station, just back after 20 years living in Spain. Good chat with him. He appeared in a support band when the Who and Small faces were on at Brid Spa in consecutive weeks 40 years ago next month. Was only 14 at the time (though that wasn't what the Spa management were told). Great days.
Those days were more glorious than you weenie-boppers could possibly ever imagine. I know, I was there, and I can even remember some of it.
I will say here and now, I am a child of the 60's, 1960's by the way, but last night I watched the TV appearance of the 2016 phenomenon that is Adele, although she comes across as a down to earth girl I found her whole set dreary. She has all the accolades, CD sales and other stuff, her 25 CD has sold zillions its seems but still watching her performance, great though it was, didn't do anything for me. I agree it could be an age thing but I like a lot of music but Adele, for all of her pluses, just didn't do it for me, she has her fans and that will see her go on to greater things but I will stick to what I know and love even if it is from the bowels of the earth in music terms.
